(Sorry for releasing another part kind of late. I've been going through a lot lately. I hope you enjoy this chapter though!!)
I listened to the radio playing 'Your Song' by Elton John as I stared out the window at the other cars passing by. As we got closer to the shop, my heart started to pound more and more. I was picking the skin on my palm again and trying not to shake. I was so nervous.
After a while, we pulled up next to the shop. I could already smell the flowers and I haven't even opened the car door yet. I sighed, unstrapping my self and opening the door. The smell hit me then, and I nearly jumped back into the car, wanting to drive away. I've never been around so many flowers. After all, most of my childhood was spent in a basement.
I opened the back door of the car and unstrapped Magnolia. She cooed, wrapping her hand around my finger. I picked her up, cradling her back and forth.
I wasn't ready for this. I've been so stressed about it all. I've also been stressed about the wedding. We had all the planning done, but we weren't sure what to do now. Because it's been so chaotic, we decided to delay it last night. We don't know when it's going to be.
As I walked to the door, Roger wrapped his hand around my waste. I looked up at him and we both smiled. When we got to the door, Roger opened it and let me in first. As I passed him, he leaned over and whispered, "You got this, baby." I faked a grin and walked over to the desk. The flower scent was even stronger in here. I felt like I was gonna pass out. It may have been because of the flowers, or maybe the stress. I couldn't tell.
The lady at the front desk looked up. "Hello," She said, "Is there anything I can help you with?" She asked.
"Uhh, yes. We're looking for the owner of this shop." I replied. I held Maggie closer to me, for no reason.
"Oh, well, Mr. Malone isn't here right now. Can I take a message?" She responded. Her voice was so sweet to listen to.
"No, that's OK. Do you know the next time he'll be here?"
"Let me check." She turned around and picked up a calendar. A few seconds after scanning it, she turned around and said, "He will actually be here in about 20 minutes. Would you like to see him then?"
"Yes," I replied.
"Great, I'll make a note. While your waiting," She turned to Roger, "maybe you could buy some flowers for your wife."
At this, Roger blushed. He looked down and turned to me, pulling me closer to his side. "That's not a bad idea. Maybe I will."
The lady eyed Magnolia and smiled. "What a cute kid you have there. What's their name?" She asked.
I also looked down at Maggie and smiled. "Her name's Magnolia. Almost a year old." I said.
"Well, she's very adorable. And what a pretty name!" She looked back down at Maggie. "Hi Magnolia. You're very lucky to have such good parents. Heck, they're lucky to have such a beautiful little girl like you!" She turned back to us. "Well, go ahead and look around. There's also a coffee shop across the street, if you care to stop there while your waiting."
"Thank you." I replied.
"It was no problem. Thank you." She smiled. I turned away and looked at Roger.
The two of us started walking around, looking at all the different flowers. There weren't just flowers, but other plants with beautiful leaves and vines. It was magnificent in here.
"She was nice." Roger commented.
"Yeah, she was very nice." I looked up at him and smiled. He again wrapped an arm around me and pulled me closer.
