(Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been so stressed out. Also, chapter 5 didn't upload until today. I honestly don't know why because I wrote it a week ago. Anyways, on with the story...)
I don't even know how long I've been in here for. I was hungry. There was zero moisture on my tongue. I was so cold. I don't know how much longer I can take this.
I started to cry. Why couldn't I just have a normal life with Roger and Maggie? I heard the door open and saw the light peeking through. As I wiped away my tears, the man came over to my cage. He smiled, holding up another person. Opening the cell door across from me, he through the person in.
"What... Who is that?" I asked. I thought the boss person only wanted me.
The man walked over to the other person, lifting the bag and holding them up. I Couldn't believe what I was seeing. "It's your little smoochie poo."
"Let Roger go," I said, "I'm the one you said you need. He has nothing to do with this."
"He tried to get in. Tried to rescue you, but he made the mistake of knocking over a table."
"He has a concussion. He can't jus--" Before I could say anything more, the man interrupted me.
"Shut up, Bitch." He through Roger onto the ground, "He stays here." The man walked out of the cell and locked the door. He walked back into the shadows and out the door.
I crawled over to the bars and grasped them. Roger lied there motionless. "Roger, Roger get up," I whispered. He didn't do a single thing. "What did he do to you?" Still no answer. I changed position and sat against the wall. I didn't know what else to do, and I was too tired to even think about it. I just needed sleep. And a warm blanket.
(A long while later...)
Roger finally was able to get up. He leaned himself against the wall like I had. I started to play with my moon necklace. It was so beautiful. "Roger, do you know who has Magnolia?" I asked.
He turned his head to look at me. "She showed up on Deaky's doorstep. That's how we found out you were missing again." His weak voice was so hard to hear. At least she was safe, though.
I looked back down at the crescent. All of a sudden, my finger caught on something. It was a piece of metal. A wire! I stood up, unwrapping the wire from the rest of the necklace. I hated to ruin it, but I could fix it later. This might actually work.
I walked to the cell door and wrapped my arms through the bars to get to the lock. "What are you doing?" Roger asked, standing up and leaning against his cage door.
"Picking the lock." I said. It was hard to find the right spot to fit the piece. Finally, I was able to get it, though. I started to move the bit around, until I heard a click. I put the wire into my pocket and placed my hand on the bars. Slowly, I pushed the gate open. I was free. Well, almost. I was out of the cell, though.
I ran over to Roger's cell door. Through the bars, he grabbed me and pulled me into an awkward hug and I hugged him back. "Find the key," He whispered. Using the wire would take to long and by then the man would be back.
I walked around, trying to see everything and where I was stepping. I felt the side of the walls until I found a small cabinet. I opened it and narrowed my eyes, trying to see into it. Spotting the keys, I grabbed them and ran back to Roger, forgetting about my surroundings completely.
I stumbled into the bars and placed the key into the lock. Turning it a few times, the lock clicked. I swung the door open and fell into Roger's arms. "Hey, it's alright." He said. A tear trickled down my cheek. I was so glad to be with him again. "We've still got to get out of here." He whispered.
"Right," I let him out of the hug, but held him up with one arm. He could barely stand.
We walked to the door where the man exited. It was our only way out, even if he was right on the other side of it. I could feel adrenaline running though me as I reached over to the nob. Slowly, I opened it, only allowing a sliver of it to open. I peeked out, seeing a normal looking house. A family room, television, kitchen, all the normal things.
I opened the door a little more, hoping he wouldn't appear out of nowhere. As quietly as possible, I walked Roger out into the house. I looked around and eyed the door. All of a sudden, I heard a sound from another room. Footsteps.
"Fuck, come on." I whispered. I started to rush to the door. On the way over, I accidentally bumped into another table. A folder fell off and papers went everywhere. For some reason, I felt like I had to pick it all up.
Roger tried to pull me back up, but I was too stiff. What the hell was I looking at? This couldn't be... "Lets go, Kellen." He said. I shoved all the papers back into the folder and stood up to run out the door. I was taking the folder with me.
We ran out to the car that Roger had drove here. What was he thinking, pulling up into the driveway? That was so obvious! I got into the driver seat and started the car, driving away. As I was just getting into the street, the man ran out, trying to chase us. I was driving to fast for him to catch up, though. Finally, we were free. Next stop, Deaky's house.
