"Protective or possessive, yeah //
Call it passive or aggressive." - Jealous, Nick Jonas***
LUCAS watched as her pale blue eyes began to water. He could see the fear etched on her face and immediately knew something was wrong.
Her eyes closed before her blank façade returned. It killed him to see the numb look on her face. It was frightening to know that this girl had just stopped feeling anything and everything.
Still kneeling he cupped her chin in his right palm and gently lifted it so she was staring directly at him. The way she flinched and her eyes shut when his hand came in contact with her didn't go unnoticed by Lucas. The way she flinched wasn't in pain but in fear that he was going to harm her.
He swore in his mind; something he rarely did, and vowed to destroy O'Connor along with the rest of his teammates. He wondered once again whether they felt the slightest bit guilty for the position Venice was in. He only had one question though. Why? Why had they done something so vile, and that too, to a girl?
"I won't let them touch you." He growled, his eyes held such intensity as he stared into Venice's dark blue orbs.
He watched her shoulders relax before tensing up again when the bell rang.
As he rolled her to class he could hear the onslaught of gossip begin.
"What is Lucas doing with HER?"
"She's so ugly."
"They don't even look good together."
He tried to ignore the comments as he wheeled Venice to class but he couldn't help but let his jaw clench up and shoot everyone a glare. Most scurried off in different directions, others stood gaping probably recovering from the glare Lucas shot.
He looked down at Venice and noticed that her eyes were trailed on the ground. He couldn't help but feel annoyed with his peers. Who were they to tell them that they didn't belong together or that she was ugly? Apart from the purple bruises adorning her face he couldn't help but think how much more prettier she was compared to that of the majority of the girls at school, with her dark hair and blue eyes... she was simply Venice.
"Venice! Hey, Venice!" Lucas immediately rid himself of those thoughts as he watched a boy running towards the two. He recognized him as Charlie; the team captain of the soccer team.
Lucas looked down at Venice and saw her eyes widen, not in fear, but in happiness? He couldn't help but let the evil little green monster enter his thoughts.
Was he her boyfriend?
Where was he when she was getting beaten up?
They don't even look good together. She's too good for him.
"Ouch. They got you bad this time, didn't they?" Charlie asked jokingly.
Lucas expected Venice to cry but she did the opposite and laughed."Yeah, well I'm alive that's what counts, right?" She grinned at him, displaying her perfect teeth and her beautiful smile.
Lucas watched the exchange between the two as Charlie finally looked up at him. Charlie's eyes grew into two slits as he stared at Lucas.
"What the hell is he doing?" Charlie asked not removing his gaze from Lucas.
Lucas cleared his throat. "HE is right here and HE can answer for himself." Lucas felt a twinge of annoyance towards Charlie. "I'm taking Venice to her classes."
"Like hell you are. You aren't needed. I can take care of her. Thanks but bye." Charlie snapped.
Lucas stood to his full height as he watched Charlie challenge him with his eyes. "No. I promised her brother that I would take care of her and you don't get to tell me what to do."
"What do you even know about her, huh? Nothing. You only came into the picture after you saw her in her worst condition. I can take care of her."
"Like you were doing such a great job before." Lucas said as Charlie's face turned red with anger.
"Charlie, please calm down. Lucas will take me to classes for the day, okay? I'll be fine. Don't worry about me." Venice replied.
After much confliction Charlie gave her a defeated smile and returned his gaze to Lucas.
"If anything happens to her under your watch I will make sure you pay for it." He threatens before pushing past Lucas and walking down the hallway.
"I won't let anything happen to you." Lucas whispers in Venice's ears. He watched her shoulders tense as his warm breath hit her ear.
Lucas smiled seeing the effect he had on her. At least he knew he wasn't the only one affected by whatever it was they had.
