Chapter 3.

Flashback

“It’s not going to wo-rk!” Hermione sang. Fred and George Weasley were trying to get across Dumbledore’s age line. I knew it wouldn’t work too but I didn’t say anything because it was funny and I didn’t want to draw attention to myself. They jumped into the circle the Age Line formed, waited a second then erupted into cheers. I raised my eyebrow. They dropped the paper into the goblet. More cheers. And back out the paper came!

Flashback

I walked up to the room of requirement doors and they opened. Perks of being important. I snuck in and hid. I watched as Harry taught every one Expecto Patronum. Luna Lovegood’s Patronus was a bunny, Harry’s was a stag, Hermione’s was an otter, Ginny Weasley’s was a horse, Ron Weasley’s was a jack Russell, and finally, Seamus Finnigan’s Patronus is a fox. I felt a sense of warmth toward these students. Then like that it was gone and I remembered Draco was in the inquisitorial squad and was looking for ‘Dumbledore’s Army’. I wanted to show Draco but I can’t. I don’t want to be an Auror but I don’t want to be a Death Eater either! You’re probably wondering how I managed to get in to the room of requirement. I am a very talented unregistered animagus. My Patronus is a Morelia Spilota Cheynei, or more commonly known as a Jungle Carpet Python. No! I sounded like Hermione. Therefore my animagus is a snake. Jungle Carpet Python. The snake is yellow and black.

I slithered into the room of requirement after Ginny. I stayed a snake while I watched them practise. I was there the day the inquisitorial squad got in. I was watching everyone intently when I noticed the hole in the wall. I slithered along and rose up so I could look into the hole. This obviously drew the attention of Dumbledore’s Army. I hissed when I saw the wand pointed directly at the hole and slithered quickly away from the wall, only to find about half the Gryffindor’s pointing wands at me. I made myself tall, leaning on my tail, desperately not wanting anyone to know it’s me. “Who or what are you, animals can’t get into the room of requirement.” Harry asked. I tried to slither the other way but Hermione was there. I hissed at her, trying to scare her. “Transform.” Hermione said. I shook my snake head. Clever girl. “What?” Fred and George asked at the same time. “It’s an animagus!” Hermione said as if it were extremely obvious. I rolled my snake eyes. “Did the snake just roll its eyes?” someone asked, the room erupted into talk, but Hermione stayed eyes fixed on me.   I’ll give them a show. I transformed, and all eyes flew to me. Hermione smirked. I had forgotten the people outside. The ground shook as the wall exploded. Oh no. Draco, Pansy, Crabbe, Goyle, Millicent Bulstrode, Graham Montague, Cassius Warrington and some sixth year I didn’t know, stood there grinning. Then Draco spotted me. His grin turned savage and he stepped forward, only to be stopped by Umbridge. “Valentine?” Pansy asked. “She caught us before you did.” Hermione said. Ron shoved her and she whispered in his ear, “She didn’t turn us in, she just watched.” I smiled. “You, what?” Umbridge asked. I picked off from what Hermione had said, she had intended me to hear what she said to Ron. “I wasn’t invited to join the inquisitorial squad so I investigated it myself.” I said. “Why didn’t you say anything?” Draco asked. “You would’ve tried to stop me right?” I said, Draco smiled. “How did you get in?” Umbridge asked. I shrugged and put a finger to my lips. “Well then, come here and get away from them.” Umbridge said and I walked slowly over and stood next to Pansy. Why would Hermione help me?  

 

Trip to Hogsmeade

I didn’t know where Draco was so Blaise and I went to Hogsmeade and followed Harry, Hermione and Ron. Katie Bell was in front of Harry further along the road and she was hunched over looking at a parcel. There was a sharp ear piercing scream and Katie slid across the ground then soared into her air, terror frozen on her face, her hair floated out like she  was under water. “I warned her, I warned her not to touch it!” Leanne (Hufflepuff) yelled at Ron, Harry and Hermione. I walked up in front of everyone and looked at the parcel then up at her. We all stood there gaping as she fell back onto the hard snow covered ground. “Don’t move any closer, get back all of you.” Hagrid pushed past and picked up Katie.

We were with Professor McGonagall “Why is it when something happens, it’s always you three?” She asked Harry, Ron and Hermione. Blaise and I were spoken to after them so we heard Harry accuse Draco. I moved forward to object but Blaise pulled me back. After a bit Harry, Ron and Hermione were dismissed and McGonagall moved onto us. “What do you make of Potter’s accusations against Malfoy?” I spoke immediately. “Draco wasn’t at Hogsmeade.” I said. “Are you sure Miss Valentine?” She asked. I nodded but I knew that Draco was definitely there. Draco cursed Katie Bell in an attempt to kill Dumbledore.

I snuck into the Gryffindor common room, I picked on a Gryffindor first year until he told me the password. I carefully made my way to the boy’s dorm, everyone is in the great hall. I rummaged through Harry’s belongings to find the Marauders Map.  I finally found it under Harry’s pillow. When I find Harry I’ll tell him he needs a more original hiding spot for the Map. “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” The kid I scared into telling me the password told me that Harry says this when he has the map. I finally spotted Harry and Draco in the same room, stepping away and towards each other like they were dancing, they weren’t, they were duelling. I stuffed the Map in my robe and rushed to Myrtles bathroom. I rushed in to see Draco Lying on the floor bleeding. “Go!” I yelled at Harry. I rushed over to Draco, tears streaming down my face. Harry was still standing there when Snape pushed pass him. Harry left. “Move Miss Valentine.” Snape said. “Can you save him?” I asked wiping away my tears and finally noticing the floor was covered in water and blood. Snape was already muttering spells and the blood in the water was receding. “Go back to the great hall Miss Valentine.” I stood up and left Draco and Snape in the bathroom fresh tears rolling down my cheeks.

Instead of going to the great hall I went to my dorm, my robes were soaked with water and Draco’s blood, the Map however was still dry. I pulled of my robe that exposed my white blouse with Slytherin tie. I collapsed onto my bed and wiped my eyes again. I went and looked into Pansy’s mirror, I saw I had wiped Draco’s blood under my eyes and I cried again, washing away Draco’s blood. That’s how pansy found me later that night. “Valentine!” she jumped alarmed. “I found Draco.” I said, “He cursed Katie Bell.” Pansy looked puzzled. “He was trying to kill Dumbledore!” I yelled at her. “Shhh!” Pansy said and I realised I had yelled extremely loud. “I am so sick of having to do things secretly and have people doing things secretly around me!” I was so flustered, I transformed into a snake and scared Pansy to death.
