"A best friend is worth a million bucks for a guy like me. That best friend was Ralph Jamison Powell, a sophomore at Navarre High School, if cars could talk, his would have said we spent too much time in the Chinese restaurant"
Between both parents working, my brother living on his own and me going to school again, there was never a time when I was out of the house by myself unless I was with my best friend Ralph.
You can imagine it's not easy lifting me period, but for Ralph, it was a piece of chocolate cake dipped in fudge.
To him I was like a feather, being picked up and carried by the wind.
So, thus began our journeys as two best friends, more like brothers by this time, ready to tear apart the world one piece at a time.
And that is just what we accomplished, between tearing apart the local Chinese takeout place, the local gas stations and Walmart, it was time to move on to bigger and better things, so we started inhabiting the local malls, parks, and beaches being looked at by people possibly mistaking Ralph and I as a same sex couple.
I mean we are literally polar opposites, I'm 5 foot zilch, barely 100 pounds and I wear suits, Ralph is 5'6, 200 pounds of solid muscle and he's a jeans guy.
Well, you can imagine after a while of setting the stories straight that things changed right? NOPE.
Even my younger brother was stating he thought Ralph was my boyfriend because we spent so much time together and had so much in common, well after I threw my leather dress shoes at his door in a fit of anger, he quickly learned to back off of my personal life.
Well, I can happily say that 7 years after meeting Ralph, we're brothers for life today, he's always there for me and I thank him so much, in fact I thank him so much that Chapter 7 will be renamed, "Ralph, my confidant in turmoil and cheer."
"Ralph, thank you for 7 and a 1/2 years of continued support in my dreams, you are the best friend a guy like me could ever ask for and I thank you for not giving up on me when times were tough.
I hope this chapter inspires you to be the same with everybody else as you are with me, true to your word, loyal and honest"
I love you brother, thanks for everything
