"Have you ever worked with cement, the more it sets, the harder it gets, well my faith is set in stone"
Let's talk about my faith, for starters I was raised Southern Baptist and I converted to the Pentecostal faith and started attending an Assemblies of God church when I was 14 years old.
Now for an old country Baptist, walking into an Assemblies of God church is like taking a bunch of caffeine pills and driving to Australia in a go cart.
Tons of people, loud music and people praying over you in a language I could only believe was some form of gibberish.
Well after a few months I had become accustomed to the services and you could say I was almost considered a regular.
Summer 2009 would be an eye-opening experience for me as I was asked to attend the district Assemblies of God summer Youth Camp.
A week long camp with several hundred other church groups growing deeper in our faith.
Basically we were cementing our foundational faith building blocks, and so the journey begins.
The week long camp was 3 hours away and so at 7 am about 20 of us loaded on to the church's old bus and headed out.
The only thing I remember about that day was a bumpy ride on a hot bus and then coming to a stop in what looked like a dirt field in the middle of nowhere.
Basically to summarize this portion, it was a blessed week of worship, connecting with people and getting closer to God.
If you take ANYTHING out of this chapter, take this: The foundation pieces to your faith are found in the cement used to hold them together.
