I woke up to a blinding light and a pounding headache.

I sat up in an empty bed, disappointed.

I looked at my bedside clock. 1 pm. Had I really slept that long?

I walked downstairs and saw Patrick making breakfast.

"I don't like this switching of roles," I grumbled as I sat down at the island.

He laughed as he gave me a plate full of eggs and bacon.

"Did you drink last night?" I asked as I ate a piece of bacon.

He shook his head. "I was worried about you. Didn't want Crosby doing anything he wasn't supposed to be doing."

"Well he broke my heart," I grumbled.

Patrick sighed and stood up. He grabbed something off of the fridge and handed it to me.

"He told me to give that to you. Said he didn't wanna wake you or some shit like that," he said as he sat down in front of me.

I lit up as I read what appeared to be Sidney's number.

"When are the Hawks and the Pens playing again?" I asked excitedly.

"Next week," he responded.

I squealed and hugged Patrick.

"There are perks of having you as a friend after all," I teased.

"Ha-ha. I wish I could say the same about you," he said sarcastically.

"I'll keep that in mind next time you try to bring a girl here," I smiled.

"Nah, I think I'm done with that," he said seriously.

"Really? Why do you say that?" I asked, hoping he was serious.

"I don't know. As much as I'd like to say I mean it, I feel like I'll fail. I'm known as 'NHL's bad-boy' whatever that means, but no one's gonna believe me so what's the point," he sighed as he sat back and rubbed his temples.

As much as my head hurt, I ignored it and hugged Patrick as hard as I could.

"I believe you, Kane. I know you can do it."

He pullead away and smiled.

"Thanks Opal. By the way, how was Crosby?"

I laughed and pushed him.

"You're so nasty. But for your information, I barely remember it," I sighed.

"Don't worry, it'll come back if you think about it hard enough," he laughed as he put our dishes in the sink.

"You have work today?" He asked.

"No, the Bears heard I work with you guys so they told me to stick with that. But my boss told me they won't need me for another day or two. If someone gets hurt, I'll come sooner so don't get hurt," I told him.

"I'll try not to," he winked.

"Don't you have practice?" I asked him as we sat in the living room.

"Had to be there at eight. Got out at eleven," he said as he typed on his phone.

"Wanna go on a walk?"

When we got to the park, we walked down the sidewalk side by side.

"I'm surprised you didn't at least hit on any girls last night," I teased.

"Oh believe me, I wanted to, but I stayed on you the whole time," he responded.

"You're such a softie," I nudged him softly.
