I woke up happy and refreshed. I looked over at my clock. Eleven. I quickly got in and out of the shower.
I put on white shorts and a black lace shirt. As soon as I finished getting dressed, the doorbell rang.
I sprinted downstairs and opened the door to a smiling Sidney. I jumped in his arms and kissed him all over.
He laughed and put me down.
"Can I have a real kiss now?" He smiled.
I pulled his face to mine and kissed him long and hard.
"Well damn!" I heard Veda shout behind me.
I laughed and helped Sidney bring his bags inside.
"Veda, this is Sidney. Sidney, this is Veda."
They smiled and shook hands.
"What're we doing today?" Sid asked as we sat hand in hand on the couch.
"I hope you haven't eaten because I wanna go out to lunch. Later tonight, I'm gonna go to the Hawks game. You don't have to go, though," I smiled.
"Oh I'm starving. And I'll go. I'll just wear sunglasses and a hat," he winked.
My phone buzzed. A text from Patrick.
Patrick: Sidney there?
Me: just got here
Patrick: on my way to get Veda now so you can have some alone time
Me: you're so sweet. ps Sid is coming tonight.
Patrick: the boys are gonna love this. I'll drop a ticket off when I get to your place
Me: sounds good
"Who's that?" Sidney asked.
"Patrick. He's coming to pick Veda up so we can have some alone time," I smirked and scooted closer to him.
Truth was, we probably wouldn't do anything. Sidney was a proper gentleman and I liked to believe I was a lady. He didn't want to pressure me and vice versa. We were taking things slow and it was wonderful.
He smiled and kissed the top of my head.
There was a knock at the door and Veda came running down the stairs to answer it.
She opened the door to Patrick. He had on basketball shorts and a tshirt. I looked over at Veda who had on a similar outfit.
Patrick walked in and put the ticket on the coffee table.
"How you doing sir?" He asked as he shook Sidney's hand.
"Not bad. Hope you're feeling well for the game?" Sidney responded.
"About to go get a pregame workout with a little rock climbing," Patrick said.
"Oh that sounds fun," I piped up.
Patrick laughed and nodded.
"We're gonna go now. Bye guys!" Veda said as she pushed Patrick out the door.
When they were gone, I stood up.
"I'm gonna do my hair real quick, then we can go," I smiled.
He stood up and followed me to my room.
I pulled the front of my hair back and pinned it for a half up, half down hairstyle.
I put on light makeup and walked back into the room.
"You're so pretty," Sidney smiled.
I grinned and grabbed his hand to help him off my bed.
When we got to a restaurant down the road, Sidney was given mean looks. He didn't mind, though.
"They hate you," I said angrily as I looked around.
"Comes with the job. I'm used to it," he smiled.
I smiled and rubbed his hand.
After we were seated, we talked.
"So did your boss give you an apartment or anything?" Sidney asked as he took a sip of his water.
"No, he assumed I'd be staying with you," I rolled my eyes.
"I wanted to ask if you wanted to stay with me but I wasn't sure if I should," he blushed.
"I'd love to stay with you. It's not that I don't wanna be with you, I just don't wanna be in Pittsburgh. I love Chicago. It's not so much Patrick, either. I really love this organization and this city," I explained.
"You have to give Pittsburgh a chance, Opal. I'm not saying you'll like it, but you might. All the guys are really excited to meet you. They're really great," he said hopefully.
"I'll give it a chance. So far the only plus side is being able to stay with you for a week."
He laughed and leaned over and kissed my cheek.
After lunch, we we came back to an empty house.
We sat down on the couch, our arms intertwined.
He leaned over and started kissing me softly. I put my hand on his cheek and pressed into him. He pulled me on top of him to get better leverage. I laughed through our kiss as he tickled my sides.
"Sidney stop!" I squealed.
He laughed and pushed me down on the couch, continuing to tickle me.
I squirmed and tried to push him off. He laughed and stopped, leaning down to kiss me once more before he sat up.
I looked at my watch. Four. The game would be starting soon.
I dialed Patrick's number.
"Hey Ope."
"Hey, doesn't the game start soon?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Where's Veda?"
"Oh she's already here. We went back to your place and she got dressed. I thought she texted you."
I took my phone away from my ear and looked at my messages. Sure enough, one from Veda.
"Oh yeah, I see that now. Well Sid and I will be there when it starts. Good luck blondie."
"Thanks Ope. See ya."
"Bye."
I leaned over and laid my head on Sidney's shoulder.
"When are you going to Pittsburgh? Tomorrow or Monday?" He asked.
"The ticket says tomorrow afternoon," I told him.
"I'll check and see if there are any more seats left on that flight later tonight," he said.
I nodded and grabbed his hand. I traced his veins softly.
He leaned over and kissed the top of my head.
I eventually fell asleep to the rhythm of Sidney's breathing.
"Wake up, Opal. It's 6."
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Sidney.
"What?" I mumbled.
"The game starts in thirty minutes."
I stood up and crawled up the stairs.
I put on jeans, my Kane jersey, and put my hair in a neat ponytail. I grabbed my ticket and went back downstairs.
"I can't wait to see you in my jersey," he said as he slid on a black hoodie.
I smiled gave him a tight hug.
"Here's your ticket."
I handed him his ticket and we were on our way.
