Some things are meant to be secret, and not to be heard.
So if I tell you, just keep it, and don't say a word.

Joy and Ashton arrived at the hospital close to half an hour later. They were told to wait in the waiting room until the tests were completed. Both of them desperately got up multiple times to ask the nurse if there was any news. After about an hour, Ashton stood up and began pacing.

"Ash. You gotta calm down. We can't have two of you in the hospital." Joy mumbles.

Ashton ignores her and continues to pace quickly.

"Ash," Joy sighs, grabbing Ashton's arm. Sit down. I want to know what happened."

Ashton sighed and sat down next to Joy.

"So there's this guy Luke.."

".. and I'm still not 100% sure why they were fighting." Ashton finished.

"Calum was upset because you liked Michael instead of him and they both got.. jealous?" Joy questioned.

"I- I guess... I'm not really sure." Ashton mumbled. "It's all so messed up."

Joy nods.

"I'm gonna go get something from the canteen, would you like anything?" Joy asks.

"No thanks," Ashton whispers.

Joy smiles slightly and gives Ashton's hand a small squeeze before walking off to the elevator.

Ashton looked up when he heard a door open. Michael had walked in leaning on his mum Karen, probably to get his ankle checked out.

Ashton was about to get up and hug him when Luke walked in behind Michael with his signature scowl planted on his face.

"Ew, what's the Grinch doing here?" Luke cringed, looking over at Ashton.

Ashton squirmed uncomfortably in his chair, avoiding all eye contact.

"Probably to visit his boyfriend." Luke sneered.

Michael looked a bit uncomfortable at that statement but simply laughed it off with a sound of agreement. Nothing's changed apparently.

"How'd you hurt you ankle again?" Luke asked Michael.

"Tripped over." Michael replied simply. It wasn't a whole lie, but it wasn't the truth either. In real fact, Ashton had pushed Michael off Calum.

"Right." Luke nodded.

Ashton mumbled under his breath harshly.

"What was that, dick?" Luke said, picking Ashton up by his collar. It was embarrassing how easy Luke could pick him up. He needed more muscle.

"I said, you're a fucking dick. And you," Ashton groaned, looking at Michael, "are no better."

Michael stayed silent, looking at his feet.

"You wanna do this now?" Luke growled, holding onto my collar tighter.

"Not particularly, no." Ashton shrugged.

"Tonight. Park. 8 o'clock. Be there. Otherwise, there will be hell to pay." Luke threatened.

Ashton nodded solemnly before Luke let go of his shirt, walking back over to Michael.

Hours later, Joy was back and a doctor walked into the room.

"Anyone here for Calum Hood?" He called.

Ashton and Joy stood up quickly and walked over to the young doctor.

"Right this way."

The two followed the doctor along a few corridors before stopping outside a room labelled RT76a.

"Now, before we go in, I'd like to assess his injuries. Mr Hood has three broken ribs on the left side and one on the right. The rib on the right side unfortunately punctured his lung, but we were able to mend that in a heartbeat. He has also suffered a small fracture on the back of his skull which should take about a month to heal. He has a broken nose which we'll have to fix with surgery and multiple cuts and bruises on multiple parts of his body that should heal on their own. You're lucky he got here when he did. He's awake now but he's still a little groggy so please don't overwhelm him with too much information yet." The doctor finished.

"Oh god," Joy whispered painfully.

The doctor opened the door and Ashton quickly rushed by Calum's side, with Joy following close behind.

"I'll leave you be. Call me if anything happens."

"Thank you, doctor." Joy whispered.

"Mum?" Calum croaked.

"Yes, it's me baby. You're gonna be alright, don't worry." Joy whispered.

Ashton poured Calum a glass of water from the jug next to Calum's bed.

"Can you sit up a little, Cal?" Ashton asked.

Calum went to sit up slightly, before crying out in pain softly.

"Hey, don't push yourself. It's alright." Ashton whispered.

Calum seemed determent though. Using his arms he quickly lift himself up into a sitting position. Ashton quickly grabbed the remote for the bed and changed it into an upright sitting position and moved the pillows for Calum to lean back on. He gladly obliged and leant back, closing his eyes and breathing as deep as he could without hurting his lungs or ribs.

Ashton passed Calum the glass of water which Calum slowly but greedily skulled down.

Ashton leant back in his chair as Calum and Joy had a conversation. Well, more like Joy fussing over Calum, asking if he was hungry or hurting and questions like that.

A buzz emitted from Ashton's pocket containing his phone. Curious, he pulled it out and checked.

Unknown Number: I found your number on Michael's phone. You're in such deep shit Irwin. -Luke
