----------
It was about to be the new year, and you two already planned watch fireworks at a nearby beach. It was actually a day before New Year's Eve, and you were actually kind of excited to finally be able to spend it with someone that really liked you.
The weather had finally cleared up a little bit, and it wasn't snowing anymore. It was also a little bit warmer, so at least you wouldn't freeze to death like you would have if you tried to go the beach a week or two ago.
Before you could say "11037" it was already New Year's Eve. Time seemed to whirl by when you were with him, like some cheesy married couple on TV.
When it was about 11 pm, you two arrived at the beach. They had opened it just for today.
"So, what are we going to do to pass the time?"
"I brought sandwiches and coffee, so it'll be like.. a weird picnic I guess." you held up a bag with the food.
You both retrieved a sandwich and a cup of coffee you got to-go without him.
Once you two got finished, it still wasn't time, so you decided to get out a question you really wanted answered.
"What if sand was replaced with glass?"
He raised an eye brow at you in confusion. "What?"
"I said, what if sand was replaced with glass?"
"...You ask the weirdest, if not dumbest, questions sometimes."
"I know."
Suddenly, a firework burst in the sky. It was a pretty mix of blues and greens in a star shape.
You checked your phone. It was 11:56.
"It's almost time!" you said.
You both watched as the fireworks exploded in the sky, various colors filling the sky.
As you were watching the sky, Byakuya checked his phone. It was 11:59.
When it hit midnight, the entire beach erupted with cheers and yells.
Suddenly, Byakuya turned your head towards him and kissed you.
You probably would've stumbled back if you were standing.
You blushed, but after a second or two, kissed him back.
This time, it was his turn to be a blushing idiot. But after a few seconds, you two got used to it and practically melted.
It was a stupid cliche, but honestly you felt like this just made you fall in love with him harder.
After another few seconds, you pulled away.
You two were still blushing idiots, because no matter how many times you two would cuddle, or hug, or kiss, you never got used to it because you still felt like an anime school girl with a stupid crush.
You two watched the waves crash over the beach for a few minutes before deciding to pack up and go back to his house.
You two came back to his house and sat on the couch to watch his show.
"Thank you for making my year significantly better, I thought you were just another annoying commoner. Sometimes you still are, but I.. still love you anyway."
You giggled. "Thanks for the compliment, really. To be honest, I thought you were the stuck up rich kid you kind of were, but you're not. I'm glad I got to know you better. I love you too."
"You know, we do graduate in two years."
"I know."
"What do you say, if, hopefully, we're still together, we buy a nice little house together? All this space gets.. lonely."
"That's a lot of planning ahead, y'know? What if we just take things one step at a time. I'm not opposed to it, we're still just 17 and stupid."
He nodded in agreement. "Okay, but I'm sticking to it."
You smiled. "I can deal with that, but let's not let it bother us right now. We start a new year of school in a week, just two more to endure."
He nodded.
You hugged him and set off down the hall to go change to sleep.
