The flames of dread burns through land,
a catastrophe the island cannot withstand.
Lava flooding from Earth's veins,
washing up bodies of the slain.
The light will be snuffed out,
replacing hope with endless doubt.
Screams of dread heard miles away...
The chapter name was long, right? That pretty much summed up the whole chapter, in fact.
Of course, troubles follows me and Kirsten.
It is becoming a habit, in a unpleasant way.
Anyway, remember last chapter, when I recovered completely from my leg problems? It was really great to be able to canter and jump again!
I was overjoyed to be able to see Kirsten again. The thought filled my stomach with butterflies.
At sunrise a van appeared at Dundull. Kirsten, wearing a green hoodie, jumped out of it. She pulled me into a suffiocating hug, nearly crushing my ribs.
'Umm.. ow ow that's enough!' I escaped from her embrace. 'I missed you pal!' Kirsten gave me a wide grin before stoking me with her hands.' C'mon! I have a great plan today.'
We drove a long nauseating ride back to Fort Pinta, we saddled up and were ready to go.
We cantered across Nimler's Highland, golly, I loved Kirsten's riding style. She gripped her reins firmly, giving me a hey-i-am-your-boss-don't-cross-me equestrian signal. That ensures both of us' safety. At the mean time not too tightly, avoid creating pain for me. I could really tell she has been riding for decades. (well maybe not, since she was only 13).
We entered Greendale and Kirsten pulled me to a stop. We found a nice patch of grass and Kirsten laid out her picnic supplies. A jug of water, a lump of bread, looking slighly squashed, and a jar of tangerine jam. The jam looked, well, I'm not going to comment on that lump of orange thingy. Thank Aideen Kirsten remembered I am a total berry addict. Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, bilberries, acai berries, blah blah - you name it. A big box of mixed berries was reserved for me. I dove right in.
The picnic was really relaxing and I great bonding experience for me and Kirsten. We chatted about life and berries. When Kirsten mentioned England, she had a glint of sadness in her eyes, oh, she still missed her former home! I felt bad instantly. However I could tell she tend to act strong, hiding her emotions alone inside her.

Then we jumped over a few short walls just for fun. I flew over it, feeling completely free.
