Adora's (POV)

The dark clouds covered the night sky as I felt the cold breeze of early fall rush through my balcony and into my room. Even with a blanket on, I still felt a shiver go up my spine on this cold night. I turn over and sighed a deep sigh. It was so cold I could see my breath. It was early fall, going into winter in a few months, and yet it was already snowy. I looked out my balcony and saw the snow flakes floating gently down from the sky. Like little ice crystal dancing in the sky as they fell. I crawled out of bed, and grabbed my jacket and sword. I walked to the balcony and let the snow flakes fall onto my messy ponytail, and on the sides of my face. The cold sting bit at my cheeks as the snow flakes melted the second they landed on my warm cheek, leaving a small cold spot. My bare feet walked across the snow covered floor, a chill like shock went up my leg, and stopped at my thigh. I reached the end of the balcony. My hands hanging by my sides made their way to the snow covered ledge. There they rested for a moment, just letting the cold take care of the clamminess of my hands. My blue eyes looked up to the cloudy night sky, and once again let the snow flakes bite at my warm flesh before melting back into water which dripped down my cheek, and down to the ground where it once again became cold and icy. I felt one go into my eye. I closed it as a sting filled my eye.

*rustle* *rustle*

I turned my attention to the Whispering Woods just as I heard rustling in the tree branches. I reopened my eye, and scanned around the tree tops for any sighs of an invader. My feet were ice cold. I felt like they were going numb, but I didn't move an inch. I was high alert.

*rustle* *rustle*

I heard again. I lower my eyes for a split second and pulled out my sword. I turned it into a grappling hook and jumped off the balcony. My feet thanked me for no longer standing in the cold snow. I felt the wind blow through my ponytail and the snow flakes against my face. Finally, I pulled the trigger, and the grappling hook grabbed hold of a near by tree branch. I swing over to the branch and landed perfectly on my bare feet. I peek out from the snow covered branches, in hopes of seeing what made the noise. Of course it could have been an animal, but my instincts said otherwise. I scanned around the area, never leaving my spot, and soon I saw something. No someone. But I couldn't see who it was right away, the snow fall was blinding my vision. The person just looked like a dark shadow.

"Damn it, now where am I?" The shadow spoke. That voice was so familiar. I knew than who it was without even seeing her face. It was Catra. Seeing a chance, I pounce like, well, a cat right onto Catra.

"GAH!" I pinned her down, and her mixed colored eyes stare back at my blue eyes. Her slit pupils felt like they were staring into my soul like daggers. I would always notice how they would get bigger when she was happy or exited about something. I would see how they would get smaller or thinner when she was angry or sad. I could read her by her moods, and just by looking into her eyes. It would feel like I was reading a book, or more so, her life story. Where she came from, how I met her, how we first became friends. All of it. It was like an award winning novel that she wrote with just her eyes. But this time, her eyes felt off. They stare back at me, and I could see the anger, the hatred, and the loathing behind them. When they were like this they scared me. But that was nothing compared to her hands.

When we got along, they were soft and gently. When she would hug me, it felt like her hands were just like small boats sailing across my skin like an ocean and her claws would be the anchors. When she was crying, I would hold her in my arms, and I would feel her claws dig into my skin. Of course it hurt, but I'd never tell her that. I didn't want her to feel worse than she already did. But now, her hands felt rough and tired. I was afraid of her trying to claw at my skin again. My eyes moved back from her hands and to her eyes again. She growled at me, a hint of a hiss at the end as well. I knew she was pissed at me for tackling her.

"What are you doing here, Adora?!" Catra yelled, growing impatient with me. I shook my head to clear my thoughts, and got off of her. She got up and brushed the fresh snow off of her jacket.

"I could ask you the same thing, Catra." Her ears straighten, and perked up.

"That's not any of your concern." I narrowed my eyes at her.

"You're close to Bright Moon, yeah it is my concern!"

"The only concern you should have is your feet. Cause they are bluer than your eyes." I looked down at my feet and saw that she was right. I sighed, knowing I had frost bite.

"Seriously, why would you come out here when it's snowing and freezing cold bare foot? Who does that? You I guess!" Catra snapped. I growled back. But she still wasn't done.

"Even I wear shoes in the winter!"

"Well I didn't wear my shoes cause I was in my room.. the only reason I came here bare foot is cause I heard something in the trees, and as we all know when it comes to training that you drop everything you're doing to investigate!" I smirked a bit. "But I guess you wouldn't know that seeing how you barely went to training!" Catra's pupils narrowed deeply at me. I gulped, I knew I made her mad.

"Really? Says the girl who's too stupid to know which boot goes on which feet half of the time."

"Hey! That was when I was little! Besides maybe I wouldn't be so bad with shoes if someone didn't leave a mouse in them!"

"THAT WAS ONE TIME, ADORA! GET OVER IT!"

"SAYS THE GIRL WHO PUT A SPIDER ON THE BED!"

"YOU'RE ONE TO TALK! YOU MADE ME EAT HALF OF THE SPIDERS THAT YOU WOULD SEE DOWN THE HALLWAY!" The two of us stood in silence for a moment. We both stared at each other, new and old wounds opened from the venom we spat at each other that burned our skin. Catra's once narrowed eyes soften and got a bit wider. I knew what that meant. I knew she was sad, and it was my fault. I felt a sigh I didn't know I was holding escape my lips, as my head turned to the ground. I looked at Catra, and saw a single tear drip down her cheek. But it soon turned to ice as the cold wind blew through her mane of hair and fur. I felt myself freeze, but not from the cold, from the way she looked at that moment. The way her hair was blowing, the way the snow flakes on her ears made them look like a beautiful shade of faded black and white, and how the freckles on her face made her snow bitten cheeks look so beautiful. I was mesmerized. I didn't realize it until it was too late, but I had wiped her frozen tear from her now reddish cheek. Catra looked up at me, and rested her hand on mine. Her hand felt soft and gently once again, like how I remembered. I didn't understand what I was doing, but I found myself leaning closer to her, and she was doing the same. My eyes felt heavy until they finally closed. I felt like I was in my own little world when my lips finally met Catra's. I pulled Catra closer to me with my free hand, and rested it on her hip. I felt her free hand move up and down my side, I moaned a bit into the kiss. She did it again, and again I moaned. I pulled away from the kiss, but not without biting her lip as I pulled away. Catra moaned as I did that.

I rested my forehead against hers, the both of us staring into each other's eyes.

"I'm sorry, Catra." I whispered to her.

"Forget it." She whispered back. I rested a hand on her cheek again, and brushed it gently with my thumb. She leaned into my hand, slight blush on her cheeks.

"I've really missed you, Catra." Catra pushed me away, a look of hurt on her face. Another tear dripped down her face.

"I'm so sick of you..."

"Catra, I-"

"SICK!" I clenched my night shirt. It felt like my heart was about to beat out of my chest.

"Why can't you just leave me alone? Why do you always have to make me feel this way?"

"Feel what way?"

"Feel like I wan-" She paused. "Forget it!"

"Catra-"

"Forget it, Adora! Take a hint! I don't want-" She paused again.

"You.." She finished. With nothing left to say, I saw her turn away and vanish into the cold snowy winds. I couldn't hear the sound of snow crunching against her feet as she walk, it was just silence. She just left, leaving me all alone with frost bitten feet, and a broken heart in the Whispering Woods.
