Today was the worst day possible to decide to get out of the apartment and get some fresh air. Rain was pouring and thunder crackled in the sky. Steam rose out of the grates on the busy New York streets. It was one of those awkward days in November when it got hot for absolutely no reason and no one knew why. It was miserable out, all I wanted to do was go home, crawl into bed, and sleep. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that because I had already decided that I needed to do errands.

I pulled at my soaked white T-shirt that awkwardly clung to my body. Today was a great day to decide to wear a polka dotted bra.

"I hate myself," I muttered as I crossed the street despite all of the honks and middle fingers I was receiving. I entered through the sliding doors at CVS. I instantly hugged my arms to my chest, they had the air conditioning cranked. No, it also did not help that it looked like I was participating in a wet T-shirt contest.

I went down the paper products aisle and grabbed what I needed, aka toilet paper, and I headed to the checkout so I could end my torment in this freezing cold store.

To my dismay, the line was long, well, long for CVS anyways. There was about seven people in front of me. I tapped my foot in annoyance and hugged the package of toilet paper to my chest. A long sigh escaped my lips as I pulled my phone out of my pocket and checked the time.

"Whoa," the boy in front of me began as he turned around to face me. "I get that the line's long but there's no need to be a Sighing Sally. You're really harshing my mellow."

Sighing Sally? Harshing my mellow? From the looks of it, I'd accidentally gotten myself into a conversation with a nutjob.

Way to go me.

"Harshing my mellow? Isn't that a line from-"

"A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff." He interrupted. I cocked an eyebrow at him and he seemed to notice because he continued to explain himself. "I don't personally watch it, my little sister she-"

"I get it." I said, cutting him off from his incessant babbling.

"Sorry." The boy mumbled as he glanced down at the ground. "I'm Ashton." He said quickly as he stuck his arm out towards me.

I had to admit Ashton was pretty cute, he had curly, light brown hair and pretty green eyes. He wasn't my type though. I don't even have a type because I never date, nor will I ever.

"My name, contrary to common belief, is not Sally." I replied, earning a giggle from him that showcased two little dimples on his cheeks. "It's Molly." I reached out and shook his hand.

"Nice to meet you Molly." He smiled, his eyes focused on my chest which currently wasn't behind my shield of toilet paper. I moved the toilet paper package back in front of me to cover up the unfortunate event that happened earlier.

"Molly," Ashton said, nudging me in the arm.

"Hmm?" I looked up from the ground and caught his eye.

"Put this on." He shrugged his jacket off his shoulders and handed it over to me.

"I don't want your coat." I pushed the jacket back to him.

"Oh really?" He asked, cocking his eyebrow like he was challenging me. "See that guy over there?" I nodded as I saw the guy he was pointing to. It was an older man, in his sixties maybe, who didn't even care that we were looking straight at him. He winked and smiled a toothless grin back at me.

"He's been staring at you for the past ten minutes, I even saw him drool a little bit." He said in a low voice. My eyes widened as I reached for his jacket. I handed the toilet paper to him as I slid it on and zipped it up.

"Toilet paper huh?"

"Yeah," I responded as I snatched it out of his hands. "What are you even in line for?" I asked, realizing he didn't have anything in his hands.

"Lottery ticket."

"Knowing my luck I would never win." I laughed as I gestured to Ashton's jacket.

"You gotta have some faith Molly." He smiled as he lightly punched my arm.

"Next in line!" A cashier yelled.

"That's you," I told Ashton. He shook his head and pulled me in front of him.

"Ladies first." He whispered in my ear before he gently pushed me forward.

I placed my purchase on the counter and the cashier rang me up and I paid in exact change. I thanked the cashier and made my way to the exit.

The coat.

I was still wearing Ashton's coat. I turned around to see if Ashton was still paying for his lottery ticket. He wasn't.

He was gone.
