Bakugo's P.O.V
I woke up to my alarm going off. I sat up and stretch before turning it off. I poked at my hearing aids and checked my phone. A text from my mother, she was worried about how I would be with today's field trip. A trip to the children hospital in our hero outfits to cheer up the sick or injured kids. I text her back that I will be fine. I hope I will, it's the same hospital I went to when I first found out. I shake my head to get rid of those dark thoughts that were creeping in. I stood up and got ready for the day. My mother sent me another text, reminding me of my check up tomorrow morning. I frown and stare at it. I can already see the doctors depressed face when he reads off more results to me. I can already see mom's hope slowly get chipped away.
I met up with everyone in the locker room. I changed into my hero outfit aware of a certain pair of eyes. Kirishima smiled at me as I walked by him. My heart hurts again. I sighed as we boarded the bus. I sat all the way in the back next to a window. Kirishima ran up and sat down next to me. "I can't wait to make the kids happy, everyone deserves to have a smile on their face" said Kirishima smiling wide. I've noticed this idiot is all sunshine when others are around but when it's just us he's a typhoon. I stop paying attention to Kirishima's rambling and started to get lost in my thoughts. No always a good thing.
We arrived at the children's hospital and got off the bus. Aizawa made us do the buddy system like we're in kindergarten. Everyone split once we were inside. "Okay so we have three rooms on floor three.. where's that at?" Said Kirishima looking at a slip with our schedule on it. I roll my eyes. I grab his hand and pulled him to the elevator. I push the third floor and the doors close. "Have you been here before?" Asked Kirishima softly. I flinched and looked side ways at him. "Yes" I said. He nods and looks at me. "For your ears?" He asked. I nod. It's not the full truth but am never going to tell him the full truth.
The doors opened and we got out. "What room?" I asked. "213B" said Kirishima looking around. I stare at the floor. I felt a tap and looked up. "Hey you okay?" He asked. "Yeah am fine, the room is over here" I said walking down a hall. Kirishima quickly followed. I stop infront of the door. This was the area where kids with life changing stuff are. Kirishima knocks on the door. No answer. I opened the door and we saw a little girl wearing a pink hat. She was sitting in her bed drawing something. I walked in and so did Kirishima. She looks up and was a little surprised to see us. I looked and noticed some of the books. They were all about sign language.
"Hey were-" I put a hand on Kirishima and he stops. I looked at the girl as I took of my gloves. Thank God I left my gauntlets. I then sign a greeting to her. She smiled and signs back, 'The nurse told me you two would be here'. I nod. Kirishima looks at me and then to her. "So is she like you?" He asked. I flinched. "No, she was born with hearing loss" I said looking at him. She also doesn't have a death counter. 'Do you have trouble hearing as well or did they teach you' she signed. 'I also have hearing trouble' I sign back. Kirishima smiled and saw down in one of the chairs letting me talk or sign with the girl.
We left for the next room and we waved back at the little girl. "What's the next room?" I asked. "Uh 322 B" said Kirishima looking at the slip. I sighed and lead him the next room. A boy with no hair laid in bed. He smiled as we entered. "Hey...your.. hero's in training?" He asked. Kirishima smiled wide. "We sure are" said Kirishima smiling. I sit down and let Kirishima handle this. I know I couldn't handle it. This kid had a death counter like me, only his is sooner. I rub my face to keep the dark thoughts away. Maybe mom was right, I shouldn't have come.
