Chapter 6: Ambush

Earlier at Ralph's inn.

》Someone's POV《

"Looks like we got another one." A player said into the distance as he look at a player who's going down the stairs. A group of 6 people that wears a cloak stalked the player at a distance without him knowing.

After half an hour, the player they are stalking left the inn. "Follow him." The player wearing a cloak, wih a number 1 on it's hood said. "Okay." One of the player said, that has a number 3 on it's hood. "Let's meet up at Lakefort. He's going there." The player with a number 3 on it's hood said again. "Alright. Let's go." The number 1 said.

The group of 6 people, left the inn.

》Zach's POV《

I've been walking for half an hour now and I think I might arrive early at Lakefort.

~ Rustle

I heard a rustling sound on my left, I don't know where is it exactly since I'm surrounded by trees and bushes.

I quickly opened my [Inventory] and equipped my beginner's dagger. "Who's there?" I asked while I walk towards the bushes. I'm already near the bushes then suddenly a slime jumped out of the bushes. I got surprised, the slime suddenly jumped towards me! I've got no time to react but then I heard a whooshing sound.

I don't know what it is but my guts tell me to dodge. So, I jumped to my right side. An arrow suddenly hit the slime then the slime started to be covered in fire.

I don't know what happened but someone's following me. "Reveal yourself! Or I'll hunt you all!" I shouted, not sure for what I'm saying.

I heard a rustling sound again and this time it's in front of me, a shadow of a man appeared and it's walking towards me. "Really?" A voice of a man said and it's coming from him. I just stood there as I wait for him to be closer to me. "Then why don't you hunt me now?" He said as he reveals himself. His height is higher than mine in an inch and he's wearing a cloak that hides his face. The only thing I noticed is his sword at his back and his big rusty armor. He's a fighter class.

I held my dagger tightly and made my fighting stance. I held my dagger in front of me using my right hand while my left hand is at my back and I crouched a little, so I can dash later if I needed to.

"Just to remind you, I'm not alone." He said. "I know, it's not you who tried to kill me earlier. So, I'm guessing you have allies behind you." I said as I observe my surroundings. "Now that you know that, you're not going to lower your guard since I can kill you any time. You're trapped." He said.

"I'm getting tired of this bullshit. Why don't we start killing each other now, huh?" I said as I stood straight, lowering my guard. "You're too gutsy." He said coldly. Then he unsheathes his sword and slashed the air. A wave of air is going towards me and everything in it's path is getting sliced.

I look at it without flinching then I leaped at my right side avoiding the attack. "I hate people like you." He said as he remove his cloak. Revealing his face, he got a short spiky gray hair, a color black eyes and his face is seriously facing towards me.

"Tch." I clicked my tongue then I quickly dashed towards him then I slashed him. The sound of his armor and my dagger colliding at each other can be heard through the forest.

I looked at him and he didn't even flinch. I jumped away as soon as I felt his aura. I looked at his armor and my dagger didn't even left a dent and the worst part is that my dagger's durability got decreased by 10%.

'What's his level?' I said in my mind.

I looked at him and saw the bar above him. I got shocked. H-he's already level 20! I can't possibly defeat him! If his allies is already between levels 15-20. Then I have no chance of defeating even one of his allies.

"What's gotten into you, huh?" He asked. "What happened to your pride? You're as stupid as the other beginners." He said provoking me. "Damn you." I whispered.

I just need to distract him, so I can escape. "What ya gonna do? You damn bitch!" He shouted while glaring at me. I suddenly got a plan in my mind.

I dashed towards him and he got surprised, I was already near him then he tried to slash me downwards but I jumped at the end of his sword and then used my skill, "Continuous Strike!" I slashed him continuously.

[-280 HP]

Then I gave it my all to the last hit. "GRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

I dealt a critical damage! I quickly jumped away from him then started to run away. I looked at him, and the only thing I noticed is that all of my hits didn't even left a single scratch on his armor except for the last one.

I looked at his HP bar and I only dealt 2,000 damage. My power's not enough. I'm on a real crisis, right now. "You're gonna regret that!" He shouted. "Four! Shoot him!" He ordered.

I heard a whoosh on the air, and it's so fast. I can't dodge it while I'm running. I tried to leap on my right side but it was too late!

~ Tsssskkkkk!

The arrow burrowed in my left shoulder! "Arrghhhh!" I screamed in pain. "Damn! Damn! Damn!" I said frustratedly. I tried to get up using my right hand. My left shoulder is bleeding, and the arrow is still stuck on my shoulder and a purple substance is oozing out of my wound.

I-is it poison? I looked at my status bar and it says I'm poisoned. Damn. My HP bar is depleting every second. I tried to run but my shoulder is making me slow.

I'm glad I bought antidote earlier. I opened my [Inventory] and tried to get my antidote but before I can even get it, someone shot me at my right leg. "Gaaarrrrrghhhhh!" I screamed. This is torture.

I fell into the ground, I can't feel my right leg. I tried to stand up but I can't, my leg won't move. "How do you feel?" That damn guy asked. He stepped on my right leg and I can feel my leg is about to burst. "Arrrggghhhhhhhh!" I screamed in pain. Then I heard an evil laugh. It's coming from him.

"GRAHAHAHAHAHA! Why don't we end your misery right now, huh?" He shouted and then he stepped on my shoulder making the arrow burrow deeper. "ARRRRRRRGGHHHHHHHH!" I screamed.

I'm losing my consciousness... my mind is going blank... and the only thing I can see is... DARKNESS!
