She kept thinking it over and over again literally just to figure whether if she should save him or not. Wait...do the rules of the space between space apply to this here? Thomas... She kept thinking it over and over until Janson was about 1 feet away from Thomas where he would execute his plan at about...
...3...2...1...
Thomas was injected with an anasthetic right at the neck just like how Sarah remembered it when she first saw the movie. Her hands, they were slowly losing their grip from her shirt and she fell on her knees. Upon hearing Janson's words to Thomas,"You should've run..." made her heart shatter. "I could've saved him. I could've. But....I couldn't because...that is the rule a Dimensional Defender has to follow."
As she said those words, the portal then disappears and so did the pathway Sarah was standing on. Falling and in shocked at the same time, she tries to pull herself togther. Looking down, she sees glowing light and the closer she got, she realized that it was a glowing yellowish green river. She hold her breath and went straight into the water in a diving position.
She tries to swim to the surface but her legs were caught by something and it was pulling her down, she couldn't see what she was already pulled too deep and it was too dark to see what it was. Slowly, she starts losing her breath and eventually she passed out and thought that this is the end 1of her life.

Beep....beep....beep...
A constant beeping sound seeps into Sarah's ears. A heart monitor? Am I still alive? She thought. She opened her eyes slightly to make sure that it was what she heard. That slight of sunlight coming through her eyes didn't stop there. Her eyes widen as surprised to see where she was.
She was in a hospital. "A real hospital, no doubt. I'm back in the real world." She said to herself as she sat down on her bed. "Ah!" As she tries to get up, she realized that she was bandaged all over. She tried to move but the pain was too overwhelming. So, she went lying back on her bed. A few seconds later, tne door her ward flew open and standing there by the door was her mother, looking worried but relief.
"Sweety, are you alright?" Her mother came close to the bed. Sarah, still tired, responded and tries to comfort her mother. "I'm fine, mom. Just that it hurts, is all." "It would've. We stopped at a tree stump and you flew off from the car. What were you thinking pulling a stunt like that? You could've gotten yourself killed." Her mother responded with worry and furious in her voice. "Well, at least it's a lot better than by getting rammed by a truck. You froze on the wheel. I just had to." Sarah said with a faint of disgust in her voice. Her mother wasn't angry. Instead, she hugged her so tightly that her bandages were almost about to fall apart.
But she didn't care. She knew that what she did was the right thing and saved both herself and her mother. She hugged her mother with whatever she have gained after passing out from the accident. She was happy that her mother does care for her. Even though her mother keeps putting her up into all those therapy treatments and everything, she still loves her mother. That's because her mother is just human and wants the best for her daughter even if that thing is something her mother doesn't understand. And it's also because her favoured characters taught her to always appreciate those who are close to you.
Speaking of which, I must of dreamt that scene I had with Thomas. Of, course, it was never real. Sarah thought faintly and continued her conversation with her mother, not even thinking of what's going to come up next.

That night, Sarah was sleeping soundly and dreaming that she was back in that weird place. As she was walking along the path, she heard a voice. A familiar voice coming from everywhere at once, all directing at her.
You past the first test. We will await your second trial at the place of tress with withering starlights.
Sarah woke up in surprise and aching after that sudden wake. She placed her hand on her face and then looked at it. What was that? She thought. That voice kept repeating inside her head until she fell asleep, hoping to get the answer tomorrow or the next day.
