You grasped the note in agitation and fear, tightly clenching the small paper in your palm as you let out a deep sigh. For one, you felt exhausted by the man always sneaking out of the corner of your eye, for two you were left annoyed with how cheeky and full of himself he really was. He tried to play God in this city, he thought he really was invincible.
The pent up anger made you throw your hands down on the table, causing the wood to harshly creak in the process. You spent a few moments collecting your patience, you were almost sure that the pest was only watching you lose your temper, finding amusement in the display of raw emotions. It was at that moment that you heard a light jingle of your doorbell go off, causing you to contain your own seething hatred. You fixed your composure and strolled over to the door, unlocking and opening it.
-"Good morning miss (Y/n)." You heard the voice of a young police officer. 'Oh, those fuckers really are useless.' -"Has anything happened tonight?"
The sentance alone almost made you snap but instead you took another deep breath. It wasn't the young woman's fault that your stalker seemed to blend in and out of the shadows.
-"I was attacked at night." You spoke as you opened the door wider for the blonde woman to step in.
As you leaded her to the living room you explained the situation, recalling every single gruesome detail of the recent event.
-"Would you like some coffee...Miss...?" You asked as you stepped into the kitchen isle with the officer trailing right behind you.
-"Yes I'd enjoy some. And it's Alice for friends." She responded with a warm smile -"And since the ghostface is hunting you, I'm sure we'll see eachother quite frequently."
You smiled back at the woman, nodding your head.
-"It's always good to have someone around in a new environment, Alice." You retorted as the beautiful scent of coffee filled your nostrils.
You and Alice spent a fair share of time discussing the whole situation of the ghostface killer. Even when the girl was a fresh rookie at the police ranks, she still had some valuable information about the serial killer obsessing over you. You of course didn't hesitate to write all of the things you learned down in the remains of your notebook.
Right when Alice told you everything she knew about the gruesome murders, you two found a small bond with eachother, you telling about your hobbies, family and adventures, while she told you about her peaceful life in Texas and how she always aspired to go bigger.
Alas, the small chit-chat ended and you felt even more inspired to not let your flames be extinguished by some lunatic. You would have none of that.
-"Thank you for the talk, Alice. I'll see you around!" You said with a genuine smile as you lead your guest to the door.
-"Anytime (Y/n). I'll give you a call when I report back to the higher ups. In the meantime try not to run into that knife wielding weirdo." She replied with a joking wink of her dark brown eye. You only laughed and crossed your fingers.
-"Wish me luck girl."
You closed the doors and sighed, this time more optimistically than before. You really needed that little spark of social contact.
Then, you suddenly remembered that you were supposed to have an interview with Jed.
-"Well shit, that memory of mine will be the death of me someday." You murmured as you made a beeline for quick preparation and running to the Caffè. Of course, you had to cover your neck wound somehow so you decided to throw a light white scarf on yourself.
You opened the door quite hastily as you ran into the building, more than a few customers giving you a surprised look. You blushed lightly as you tried to locate Jed. No signs of dark hair, a pair of mischevious green eyes in sight so you sat down at a free table, wondering if the five minute delay was enough to make him leave. Your (e/c) eyes scouted throughout the cozy caramel tinted room full of people as you let your mind drift off for a moment, caught in safety and serenity of this place. You couldn't believe you used to take your own safety for granted, how you thought nothing could ever hurt you, how you thought no one would be interested in haunting you like an apparition. You would've promised these things happen only in horror movies. Oh, how wrong were you.

-"Hello? Earth to (y/n)?" You heard Jed's voice as the man stood right in front of you, snapping his fingers to gain your attention. You blinked a few times to fully come back to life as you looked around confused. Have you really dozed off?
-"I had awful traffic, sorry for making you wait so long. For that, coffee is on me. " You shook your head and giggled at the excuse.
-"It's alright Jed, you really don't have t-"
-"But I insist (Y/n)" The man said with a charming tone, making you surrender almost instantly.
-"Alright, alright I give up." You rose your hands in defeat.
-"Let me pick you something out, you'll love it." Before you even had a chance to say how much of a picky coffee expert you were, Jed already left for the waiting line.
A few minutes passed and the young journalist returned, two cups in hand. You were surprised to see (fav/coffee) in his left hand. He set it down in front of you and you gave a surprised glance to Jed.
-"Don't look at me like that, I'm very good at guessing people." He defended himself, casting his sly smirk to you.
-"I swear, you should trademark that devilish grin of yours, Jed." You murmured sarcastically as the man in front of you faked a look of sadness on his face.
-"You plan to kill a murderer with those talkbacks and sarcasm?" He threw back, a small chuckle escaping his lips.
-"Are you trying to tell me they're not good enough?" You asked as you took a sip of your delicious beverage.
-"Hm, maybe you got a point after all, doll." Jed shrugged as he pulled out his notebook.
-"As much as I'd love to hear those punchlines of yours, let's do some of the boring stuff first. Also, what's up with that scarf. Isn't it too warm for it?" The journalist commented questioning your choice of attire for such a hot weather.
-"Oh that's another thing you'll have to write about in your article." You responded, growing a bit gloomier.
-"Did something happen?" He asked, growing worried.
-"Let's say I got attacked yesterday." You cast your eyes away for a moment, trying to not let your mood be ruined by last night's events.
-"Are you alright with talking about this? I also find it strange that he didn't you know... Finish you off." You nodded slowly, remaining in your harmonious composure. The words still hurt your heart but you agreed with Jed's view. Ghostface didn't leave any survivors.
-"People have to know about this."
-"I agree, let's get to work then, shall we?"
