-"Do you have any plan on where do we start off, Alice?" You asked the bubbly girl that was walking next to you and carrying her signature smile. Almost as if stalking wasn't that much of a deal. Fight fire with fire, you thought.
-"Why won't we go to his apartment for starters. But we'll leave it for the evening. I'm sure he won't be home by then." You sighed at her response, knowing that breaking in- cop or not would have some serious aftermath.
-"Well how do you plan to get inside it, smarty?" You asked hoping she'd drop the idea and try a different approach. To your surprise, the girl flung out a keychain out of her jean shorts.
-"One step ahead of you (Y/n)!" She laughed as you two continued walking. This woman was indeed something else. The walk took you roughly ten minutes as you finally arrived at a small block. It wasn't in ruins nor did it reek of a bad neighborhood, but it was minimal. For Jed, you would've expected something more flashy. Then again, he could've been more humble than he seemed.
-"Well, let's take a little peek now, shall we?" Alice whispered as you two made it upstairs, the ancient wood creaking in protest as you and the blonde tried to be as quiet as humanly possible. The private investigation duet consisting of you and Alice finally made it to the front doors, as anxiety grew in your heart and stomach. This was wrong on more levels than one. Besides, if Jed caught you and was in fact innocent he wouldn't forgive you invading his privacy like that! Well it was too late to back down as the police girl already inserted the key into the lock. Before turning it though, an elderly woman came out of her house, startling the both of you.
-"And what are the two of you pretty girls doing here? At Jed's house? " You heard the sweet grandmother like voice of a woman in her 60s, peering curiously at the two of you. The very hairs on the end of your neck stood up as you stared at the stranger in complete silence. You were in trouble now.
-"Well you see miss, I'm sergeant Alice Ridgewood, this is miss (Y/n) she's Mr Jed's...Fiancé!" Alice blurted out the lie, though you had to give her that diplomatic spark in her tone.
-"Oh I see, I see. But where's Jed, then?" The lady asked as she eyed you warmly.
-"Well, he's at work and he left me the keys to take (Y/n) in. She's from a different state and he couldn't make it from work in time." The blonde added, while glancing at you in hopes for following her story.
-"Well what state are you from then, dearie?"
-"Wiscon-"
-"Arkansas!" Alice almost yelled while the grey haired woman only gave you a puzzled look.
-"Excuse my friend. I moved around a lot, so it's hard to keep track." You responded, smiling politely.
-"Oh, Arkansas. I used to live there with my husband..."
-"As much as we'd love to hear your story miss, we're in a bit of a rush." You murmured politely as Alice twisted the key to open the lock.
-"Young people these days, always in a rush. Especially that man of yours (Y)/n)! He never really stays in his own house for long. But oh well, atleast I can see that he's probably visiting his beautiful fiancé at night. Have a good one." The elderly woman laughed as she descended down the staircase.
-"You too!"
-"You too miss!" You and Alice called in union, opening the wooden door to the apartment. The hall felt musky and carried the scent of old furniture. You were surprised to see how minimalistic and uncaring your potential partner really was.
-"Did you hear what she said girly? He goes out at night a lot." Alice whispered as she ventured throughout the dark hall quietly.
-"Maybe he's drinking at a bar or something? Who knows." You shrugged as you followed the police officer's lead.
-"Never saw him at a bar." The blonde turned her head to you for a second as she entered the first room. Newspapers scattered around on the desk, messy notes and a jumble of potential articles. You'd expect that from a journalist.
-"You trying to tell me about your alcohol problem?" You murmured with a smirk. You picked up a newspaper from the desk. Flashy headlines, gory details and a picture of the murder.
-"Look I get a lot of calls for bar fights. But I never saw Jed there." She retorted with a small giggle. You hummed in approval, believing Alice's words. Then where could he be going at night?
-"There's really nothing here." You sighed as you leaned over the desk.
-"Check the bedroom I'll go for the other rooms." The blonde said as she ventured to the other rooms of the dimly lit house. You let out a small sigh as you went into the bedroom, seeing a rather neat display in front of your eyes. The bed was tidied, the floors sparkling with polish, the spacy closet though half open had clothes stacked up neatly. What caught your attention was the greyish camera resting on the nightstand next to the light colored bed. Your sense of privacy told you not to touch it, but the nosy you wanted to be sure Jed is innocent.
You took in a deep breath deciding that curiosity wins this round as your hands darted over to the electric device, turning it on. You hastily opened up the gallery, seeing horrifying images of the killings that took place in this town. But how would he get those on his camera. He said he got them anonymously from the murderer.
Oh great heavens. Did you let a murderer inside your house?
-"(Y/n). Hide." You heard a low, soft whisper from outside the bedroom as your eyes went wide. He was coming. With the grace of a feline you grabbed the evidence of Jed's true nature and dove under the bed, hiding behind stacks of books.
