Season of Joy

On the twelfth day of Christmas...

December 13, 2026

"Are you sure? I thought I set it on the counter!" Annie yelled from upstairs. Asher came up the stairs and laughed. "Baby, their right there" he pointed to the dresser Annie was standing at. "Oh, I didn't even see them, come on we have to go"

Annie grabbed the keys and gave them to Asher as they headed down the stairs of Asher's house, that they both currently own.

"Don't have to tell me twice. The last time we were late picking the kids up from your parents house, they came back as what our kids like to call Gucci overlords" Annie laughed. "Yes, I remember"

They both got into the car and headed to Annie's parents house.

Long story short, Asher's parents only talk to him when they need something from him. But he still flies out his siblings so he can see them. The only compromise he could make with his mom and dad.

Hayley is in her first year of college, no doubt having the time of her life.

Annie and Asher have two kids. 3 year old twins, Hope and Cole.

Annie's parents love babysitting the two twins, their godparents also. Kenzie and Isaak.

Once finally coming upon the house, Cole and Hope were already at the door. Annie got out the car first and went to hug them both, Asher doing the same once she was done. "Mommy!" Hope screamed.

"Hey baby, did you and your brother have fun?" Hope nodded her head. "Yes!" Annie smiled and stood up.

"Hi mom, hi dad" She hugged them too. "The kids were very well behaved" Katie reassured her. "I'm sure they were"

"Oh, and we refrained Cole from having brownies past ten" Annie's eyes widened. "He was up that late?" Billy nodded. "We were surprised too"

"Well, if you guys don't have anything planned for Christmas we'd love to have you guys over"

"Mom, we always come to your Christmas party"

"I know, I just thought you guys would want to do something with the kids since their a little older now" Annie put her hand on her moms shoulder. "It's okay mom, we'll be there"

"Okay, who wants ice cream for breakfast?!" Asher happily asked his kids. "Me!" The screamed at the same time. Annie smiled, she's never going to get used to their high pithed voices.

"I'll race you" He starts jogging as Hope and Cole race each other to the car. "Thank you guys!" Asher called out to Katie and Billy once he got to the car.

"So I see you guys are happy" Katie interpreted. "Yeah..we are" Annie walked away smiling, getting in the car with her family.

After settling in with the kids as usual, Annie and Asher contemplated on dinner choices. "Hey Anns..I want to ask you something" Asher walked in front of her.

"We met on this day three years ago"

"Oh my god. We did!" Annie exclaimed

"But on that day, you were someone of interest. If I had to be honest, I wouldn't have thought we'd end up here. You basically saved my life, and I'm so thankful for that. With you, I'm happier, the kids are happy, and I want you to be happy too. So, as my gift to you on our three year anniversary I want to ask..."

Asher got down on one knee and opened a small box with a diamond ring inside. Annie covered her mouth as tears began to form in her eyes.

"Will you marry me?" Annie was shocked. But she couldn't be happier. She was speechless for a moment, but finally came back to reality. "Yes! Yes! Of course!" Asher slipped the ring onto her finger and she threw her self around him.

"I love you" Annie said before kissing him and crying some more.

"Mommy? Why are you crying?" Hope was standing at the feet of her parents. "Oh honey, some tears are good tears. And I am very happy. Look?" Annie bent down to her daughter level and showed her hand.

"Oooh, swiny" Hope reached out for the ring and smiled. "Where'd you get it mommy?"

"Daddy got it for me. It must have cost a fortune"

And that, was not a lie. "Daddy makes Mommy the happiest Mommy on earth?" A tear drop from Annie's eye and she looked up at Asher. "Yes, yes he does"
