Burn

There times when I get so, so angry,

Times when all I see before my eyes is the world alight,

Fires rage, people cry, blood fills the sky.

Times when I want everyone else to feel my hurt, confusion anger.

Times when I just can't handle it by myself,

And all that comes out from my broken lips is a scream so primal it blocks out my world.

And then I stand back,

I take a breath,

And I calm down,

Just to question what THEY think,

Where THEIR hearts lie.

Why do they do this?

Make me feel this way?

Who are they in their flaws and faults to decide what goes and what stays?

And then, unwittingly my anger comes back,

The world burns once more,

And I walk forward,

Life beckons,

A sweet call to come back and face her horrors once more.

And every time I give in,

Follow her sweet ballad back to the start.

And as I walk, sing, skip, dance, grin, laugh,

The world burns behind my eyelids.
