Why is the one want,
the one I yearn for,
flirt with,
always so unreachable?
Always just a little bit older,
gone before I know it.
Always just a little bit younger,
I'm gone from his mind before I know it.
No matter how he lingers in my thoughts,
No matter how I wish he would always stay just a little bit longer,
he's gone,
always gone.
The long lingering looks,
those times when his eyes eat me up,
when his cocky smile dares me to do something, challenge him,
they all fade to nothing so quickly it seems.
The days pass in blurs,
with him the only highlight,
until finally, he catches me in the hallway,
his eyes wide as they follow my every move,
gives one last spark of hope to a dying fire.
My blaze lights up,
eyes glow,
smile wider,
play right in to all his charms,
because with that one small look,
I'm trapped once more.
