Chapter 7: The Lost Sister (Part 2)

Later

Before the group could find Ray Carroll, they needed to stock up. They parked at a gas station next to one of the gas pumps, heading inside. They didn't have much money left, so they needed to improvise.

"Hey Darrel, your bathrooms leaking" Kali told the man at the desk. Darrel saw this and immediately took action. As he went inside, the group started stealing whatever they could get for a minute. As Axel was trying to get the money from the cash register, the cock of a gun filled the air. "Don't move freak!" Darrel pointed a snubnose revolver at Axel. "Put the gun down" Kali said with her hands up, walking towards him slowly. "Stay back!" Darrel said to Kali, pointing the gun at her now. "We're not stealing from you, only the war criminal billionaires that own this place. You won't even lose a dime" Kali said, getting closer. "I said stay back!" Darrel said, finger on the trigger.

El took action and flung Darrel at the wall with some styrofoam boxes in the way, knocking him out. "Shit kid" Axel said. Then police sirens were in the distance. "We need to go" Mick said. Everyone got back into the van and drove off.

Nighttime

The van stopped in front of an apartment complex. This was the location of Ray Carroll. "This is it" El said. Zero was in the void, seeing what Ray was up to. "Is he doing anything?" Kali asked. "Just....watching TV...in the living room" El said, opening his eyes. "Ok. Masks on" Kali said, and everyone put on a mask to hide their identities.

Inside, Ray was watching TV peacefully on his recliner. But then suddenly, the door chain on his door slid off, along with the TV being cut off. He got up to fix the TV, when he heard someone moving around in the room. He looked and moved around, only to be forced back into the recliner, El coming out from behind a cabinet being the one holding him in the seat. Kali had walked in the room as well. They stood in front of him now. "Remember us?" Kali said to him. Ray suddenly realized who they were.

El then forced Ray down to his knees with his mind. "You...hurt...Mama" El said, then used her powers to push him across the floor and ram into the wall, causing his head to bleed a little. "Listen to me, I didn't want to do it. I swear I didn't. I had no choice. He said she was sick" Ray pleaded. "That's where you're wrong, Ray. You did have a choice, and you chose wrong" Kali said. Just before El could use her powers on him, Ray told them that he could help them find the one person they hated the most out of all the lab members.

"Papa is dead..." El said. "No, he's alive. I can show you" Ray said, almost to the point of begging. "If he is, Jane will find him, just like she found you" Kali said. Then she glanced at El, giving her the signal to torture the man. So she did. She started to choke him while dragging him slowly across the floor. But something caught her eye that made her stop. Right next to Rays head, was a photograph of Ray and his daughters. Just then Axel and Dottie came in. "The kids in the next room have called the cops. We need to go" Axel said. "No, we finish this first" Kali demanded.

"Kali, we have to go!" Axel repeated. "Do it, Jane! Now!" Kali ordered. When El wouldn't do anything, Kali pulled out a gun and pointed it at Ray. "No!" El threw the gun out the window with her powers. After that, they all left before the police could arrive.

There was silence in the van. Only before Kali said this. "You let that man live tonight. If you want to show mercy, that's your choice. But don't ever take away mine. You understand?" Kali said to her before turning away. El just looked out the window, feeling like everything was in slow motion at that point. Then, only one thought surfaced her mind.

Was Papa really alive?

Later

They were all back at the warehouse now. Anyone barely talked to each other, after what happened earlier.

El was in the void, trying to see how the others were doing in Hawkins. But things weren't looking good. She saw Hopper seeming frantic, then yelling and running after the sound of glass breaking filled the air. She then looked over and heard Mike, trying to get somewhere but was being held back. El ran to him and tried to touch him, but he quickly vanished. "Mike! Mike!" El yelled out, tears slipping from her eyes.

But then, he heard something else now. A sound that only got louder, and louder, and louder.

A door being breached open.

Kali snapped El out of the void. "We need to go, they found us" She told El. "Who?" El stood up. "The policemen. Come on" Kali said, grabbing her hand. The two went out of their bedrooms and went to the others. "Shit, what are we gonna do now? The whole place is being breached" Axel said. "I don't know" Funshine said. "Well, we have to get to the van, otherwise we're dead meat" Mick said. Kali told them all to shush and stay still.

Just then cops came into the room. But they didn't acknowledge the others. Instead they passed by them completely. Once they were gone, the group left the room and headed for the van.

They got outside and we're heading towards the van. They were almost home free, until a few cops told them to stop. Axel fired at them with a handgun as they all got on the side of the van that. The police however, were firing at the van. Kali then used her powers to create a barrier that split the policemen away from the group. Kali, Dottie, Axel, Funshine, and Mick entered the van, but El didn't. "Come on, let's go!" Axel said.

"I can't" El said. "What do you mean?" Kali asked her. "My friends are in danger, I need to help them" El answered. "We don't have time for this!" Mick yelled a the barrier Kali created started fading out. "You were sent here for a reason. We belong together. There's nothing for you back there, they cannot save you, Jane" Kali said. El looked at Kali. "No. But I can save them" El said. She then ran down an alleyway near the van. Kali called out to her, but it was too late. El hauled ass, and the group had to leave her behind. Kali stared out the van window, in tears of what just happened. She really believed that they could be a family. But some families don't last forever.

El was now on a bus, heading to Hawkins to save her friends and guardian. "Excuse me. May I sit behind you?" A lady asked from the row beside them. El nodded.

The lady sat in the seat next to the girl. "You look a little young to be out all alone. Where are your parents?" She asked the girl. "I'm going to my friends" El said, then looked forward with a smile. "I'm going home..." Zero said.

But what did home have in store for them?
