At the Byers house

Mike had gone to the Byers house to check on Will and see if he's okay. Yet he didn't get the answer he was hoping for. They were discussing about the shadow monster Will has been seeing.

"It's like...I feel..what it's feeling. See what it sees. But it just isn't in the upside down either....some of it is here too" Will explained. "Like, here? In this house?" Mike asked. Will nodded. "But not just here...it's inside me. I feel like every passing minute, it gets closer and closer to Hawkins. And the closer it gets, the more I feel it" Will rambled on. "Which is why your seeing these now memories" Mike assumed. Will nodded, trying to take it all in.

"At first...it just felt like something, in the back of my head. It just....it felt like I was in a dream. If I thought really hard, I could remember everything...everything" Will turned his head to him. Mike was thinking of something positive, to uplift him.

"Maybe...maybe that's good. Think of it as..being a spy. A super spy in fact. Spying on the monster. Maybe...that's how we can stop it. Through you" Mike said the best he could. Will was starting to believe him. "You really think so?" "Yeah, I really do" Mike replied.

Will then looked over to the drawing he made that showed the monster. "What if...what if it spies back?" "It won't. We won't let it" Mike assured Will with left hand on his shoulder.

In the tunnels

Hopper was walking through the tunnels underneath the pumpkin patch. Everywhere he looked he saw tentacles and mush, his footsteps echoing throughout the tunnels.

He shined his flashlight up in one direction, being hit in the face with some sort of airborne chemical. He couldn't tell what it was since he was trying to get it off of his face. He turned to another direction, getting hit again with the same chemical. He tried to walk, but his vision became blurry. He fell to the ground and passed out as the hole he came through slowly started to close.

Elsewhere

Ashton and Nancy had arrived at a motel late at night. They were at the front desk and getting a room, where the lady was very laid back and not paying attention to them. "We'd like a room please" Nancy spoke to get her attention.

"We have those. You want a single or a double?" The lady asked. "Double" Nancy and Ashton said at the same time, glancing at each other then back at the lady.

The two got in their room and were laying in their separate beds, not saying anything to each other as they laid down. Occasionally they would glance at each other when they weren't looking. Ashton sighed quietly and decided to break the silence.

"Nancy?" Ashton looked at her, as Nancy looked back at him. "Why'd you choose me to go with you for this? I've seen you hang around Jonathan a lot the past few days" He teased. Nancy smiled and looked away. "I don't know. Just at the right place at the right time, I guess" she said to him. Although she didn't really believe what she was saying. Ashton decided to take what he could get in that moment. "I just hope what we're doing works" Ashton said. Nancy then looked back at him. "It will" she assured him

Nancy then faced towards him with a smile. "You never really told me about where you were from" she said. Ashton smiled a little and faced towards her. "Well, the beach was nice, the weather was always hot or raining, and all the guys were in their luxury cars" he laughed a little. Nancy giggled a little as she thought about it. "So why'd you leave? It must've been a lot better than Hawkins" she said. Ashton didn't really know how to answer her, and it seemed like the second she asked him, something was bothering him. "My mom thought I needed a change of scenery, that's all" he said. Even though Nancy just met him a few days ago, she could tell that there was a deeper meaning to it.
