She groaned, rolling onto her back as her eyes fluttered open only to meet more darkness.
She moved her head around, searching for something, anything she recognized, but all she saw was darkness.
She sat up, leaning back on her hands, stretching out her fingers, but immediately pulling back when they grazed something cold and hard.
For a moment she hesitated, but finally, she reached back blindly for whatever it was she felt. Her fingers closed around something and she picked it up.
The object was heavy, she guessed made of metal. She let it roll around in her hands and she tried to feel for even the slightest clue as to what it was.
It was a metal cylinder that widened on one end. She felt a button at the back end of the cylinder and as she pushed down on it, she immediately realized what it was.
A flashlight.
The room around her was illuminated by the bright light coming out of the flashlight.
She looked around the room her mouth dropping. She tried to take a deep breath, but it caught in her throat.
Her mouth was dry as she got up, looking around the room. The walls were windowless and the only door was on the far end from where she was standing. The concrete walls gave off a cold, stale feeling and she felt her heart sink into her stomach.
Though she didn't know what was going on, it wasn't anything good.
She looked down at the floor, feeling a wave of nausea wash over her as she saw a large stain of dried blood in a corner.
She looked around again, the room was empty and cold and everything about it screamed for her to get out of it.
She hesitated for just a moment, before taking a careful step to the door.
She had no idea how she got there. She didn't remember driving there or anyone taking her.
She pushed the door open with a creak and with each step she took her heart sank further into her stomach. Her legs became heavier and she started feeling dizzy.
The beam of light from the flashlight illuminated the next room in a similar manner to the last one. Her breath picked up, her mouth feeling like sandpaper.
Her eyes glide over the walls, reading all the words, seeing all the pictures, following the red strings that connected newspaper article to newspaper article, picture to picture, map to map, ticket to ticket.
Her heart pounded in her chest and she felt ready to throw up.
The wall in front of her was covered with pictures and newspaper articles and maps and tickets and receipts and more pictures of everything she had done in the past six months, everywhere she had been, everyone she had seen.
In the middle of the wall was a message written in bright red capital letters: "I've wanted you for so long and now you're finally mine, my love."
