She awoke sweating, shooting up, scrambling back until her back was against the headboard of her bed. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her heart as it was pounding in her chest. She ran a hand through her hair, which was drenched in sweat. She had had the same dream seven consecutive nights in a row now. It started after... That night. The dream was something between a nightmare and a wonderful dream. The figure beside her in the bed stirred and his eyes fluttered open. He looked at her, for a second seeming confused what was happening, but when he noticed her distressed expression, he shot up, immediately wrapping his arms around her shoulders. She leaned into his hug, letting a tear escape from her eye.

'Hey, it's okay. You're okay,' he whispered, stroking her hair. She nodded, letting the tears slide down her face quietly as he held her. Her breath caught in her throat as a sob tore through her body. His face contorted. He hated seeing her like this. He pressed his lips to the top of her head. 'Was it the nightmare again?' She nodded, not trusting herself to speak as a lump formed in her throat. 'Can you tell me what it's about?' She pulled back just a little, to look him in the eyes. For a moment she was quiet, her eyes felt heavy and her bones ached with exhaustion. She knew she needed to tell someone, she needed someone to help her, to tell her it was going to be okay and it was just a dream and even though she didn't want to talk about it, she knew he was the only one she could bring herself to tell.

'I...' She bit down on her lip, taking a deep breath as she tried to pick herself back up. 'I'm in a dark room... At first, I'm alone, but after a while, I hear footsteps and voices.' She stared at the wall, lost in thought, seeing everything in front of her, but this time, it was a little less terrifying as his arms kept her in reality. 'Water is dropping from something on the floor. I'm cold. I can't see anything until suddenly, someone pulls my head back by my hair.' She swallowed away the lump in her throat, closing her eyes. The more she told him about the dream, the more it felt like she could breathe again. She focused on that feeling and his arms wrapped tightly around her. 'I'm thrown through the room, but when I land, it's like I'm drowning. Everything goes black. There's someone calling my name and when I open my eyes.' She looked up at him. 'And there you are. You saved me.' Her mind wanders to the image of his face dangling over hers, his dark brown eyes looking into her icy blue ones, his smile enchanting her. Saving her.
