'Ouch! Could you at least try to be a little careful.' He chuckled. Letting out some more space for her arms to move. She sighed, relaxing her shoulders. 'Thanks,' she mumbled. He fidgeted with the ropes, trying to keep them looser around her wrists. He let out a sigh, trying to remind himself why he was doing this. He grunted in frustration as the ropes seemed to have a life of their own. The sleeve of her shirt rode up, revealing her right wrist. His eyes narrowed and he dropped the ropes, lifting her wrist up. He yanked the sleeve back. His blood boiled as he studied it.

'Did he do this?' He seethed. She shook her head.

'I don't know what you're talking about,' she replied coolly. He took two steps so he could face her. He held up her wrist for her to see.

'I ask again, Rose, did he do this to you?' This time his voice was quiet, gentle. For a moment she was taken aback, not having realized he could be like that. She frowned, unable to take her eyes off her wrist. She nodded slowly, her eyes watering.

'Yeah... He did,' her voice was barely a whisper, but in his ears, it was like she couldn't be clearer. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He stood up slowly taking out his pocket knife and flicking it open. Rose's eyes widened. 'Wow, wow. There's, uh, there's no need for that!' She let out a nervous laugh. He shook his head as his eyes met hers. He kept eye contact, as he took the knife and with one swift move cut off the ropes. They fell hopelessly to the ground, leaving Rose in shock. For a moment she hesitated, but she saw her chance and took it. She jumped up, pushing past him and started running to the door.

'You don't have to go.' He didn't turn around. He didn't move. He just called out for her. She stopped halfway across the room and turned around slowly.

'What?'

'I'm letting you go. But that doesn't mean you have to... You don't have to go back to... him.' He clenched his fists, closing his eyes. Fury rose in his chest, boiling his blood. He turned around to look at her. 'I know... I know I might seem like the bad guy... I know that's what he's telling you... But I also know what he's doing to you and I can't just let you go back to that without giving you a choice...' She took a step towards him, an angry look on her face.

'You don't know anything, Tim. You don't know what he does...' Her voice was lined with bitterness. 'No one will ever know what he does.' He shook his head.

'I know,' his voice was quiet, the statement fragile as it hung in the air. She looked at him, her lips parting in surprise. He had done it to Tim too.
