Sigh. It spreads through the group. Silence is what keeps them going. "Jack, if we find survivors, we kill, or give them a chance?" Selena asks, Edgar looking over. "A chance, I guess." Edgar smiles. "You've changed, Jack." A soft chuckle emits through the group, the fire hall in sight. "We're almost there." Edgar notes, and draws his handgun. Jack pulls his machete, and Selena retrieves her assault rifle. "We stay together, and Edgar," Jack says, "stay with me. I need cover." Edgar nods and Selena begins to walk away in the direction of a townhouse. Jack and Edgar walked into the city, and progressed calmly. A walker calmly stepped down the road, groaning alone.

"Walker." Edgar nodded, and the few people progressed slowly. As Jack was about to draw his machete, a sniper shot sounded off in the distance. The walker dropped dead, head seeping through the gaping hole left within the head. Jack told Edgar to pause. They'd heard that sniper before, the L115. A military grade sniper rifle. A slow sigh throughout the group, and there was a clang. A bag fell beside the zombie, and there was a person patting the zombie down for items. He looked over, and froze. He quickly grabbed a pistol, and fired off a round. Jack ducked, and Edgar jumped to the side. The survivor fired another round, and Jack drew his gun. Jack returned fire, and managed to hit the shoulder of the attacker. "Augh! My shoulder!" The scream rang through the town, and the survivor dropped the gun. Edgar advanced quickly, and knocked him down. He put the gun to his head. "Name." Edgar said. The man stays shut. "Then you'll have to die." And Jack drove the blade through his head. Retrieving the blade, Edgar looks to the grocery store. It's boarded up, and someone is eyeing the two. "There's someone there, so.. Let's take a chance." Jack advanced, and slowly drew the gun. Edgar advanced beside Jack, and the eyes disappeared. There was a loud crash as the person was evading. Focusing on the grocery store, Jack and Edgar advanced together. They kicked the door in, and pulled guns. The character stopped, throwing his hands in the air. "Name." Jack says. "Charlie James." Charlie lays his gun down, and sets down his knife holster. Jack and Edgar lower their weapons and Charlie takes his weapons back. "You seem to be able to survive alone. But four is better than one. We have another one, she's out raiding the town. You come with us, and seek a better world." Edgar says, and the newcomer just smiles.

Jack slides his machete back onto the bag holster so it hangs off, and loads a new mag into his gun. "There's a nearby sniper. We need to be careful." Jack says, clearly edging carefully towards the door. Another shot echoes through the night, and soon nothing could be heard again. "He moves after every shot. Tries to stay hidden. He's got a flash hider." Charlie says from the back, retrieving a chocolate bar from a nearby shelf. He tears it open, and slowly proceeds to eat it. Jack looks at Edgar, who nods. The three move out, rushing to a building. The door opens, and the sniper stops, drawing a crowbar. Jack kicks him, and the crowbar falls. Edgar goes to draw a gun as Charlie slides between him, slipping the knife from its holster, driving it into the snipers throat. He repeats this twice, blood spilling each time he pulls the knife out.

Charlie backs off as the sniper drops dead, and Jack grabs the sniper, his child side coming out. "This is awesome! Variable zooms, flash suppressor, extended magazine, bolt action, my god this is awesome!" Edgar smiles and pats Jack on the back, and Charlie just cleans the blood off his knife. Charlie holds up the knife, watching for the gleam on the moonlight. Jack finishes the looting and smiles. Only soon would they truly become infected with knowledge upon those who have never even seen the apocalypse start. Jack and Edgar only got together at the start with knowledge upon the apocalypse from many movies and games. Basically this is the survival of the fittest and the intelligent, working upon the fact that knowledge is important. (If you didn't understand this, wait for the A/N at the end of the chapter.) Only properly with knowledge of survival would the group truly survive.

Selena opens the door slowly, as a survivor jumps at her. She cusses softly, and tries to push her off. No use, the attacker is already reaching for her knife. Selena kicks her, and shoves her off. "You will pay!" Screams her attacker, who flees out a window. Coughing, Selena recovers her gun, and a canned roll of uncooked Pillsbury Crescent Roll dough. Opening it, she begins to eat it. She knows inside its bad for her, but hey. Welcome to the apocalypse.
