[Last Name] [Name] was very confused. Dazai's new workplace was very... active to say the least. They were now hanging out at the coffee shop in the same building as the Armed Detective Agency's office. By 'they', it meant [Name], Dazai and Atsushi. Other members of the agency were also there including Tanizaki and his sister, Naomi from what [Name] heard.
Dazai was on the other side of the bar, shamelessly flirting with the cafe's server, making [Name] mutter a small 'tch.' Atsushi's eye widened at this,
"[Name]-san, don't tell me you're jealous because of Dazai-san?" exclaimed the teen. Atsushi, who was now formally introduced to [Name] was trying his best to hold a conversation with the vulgar girl. This statement specifically irked her, for some reasons.
"Don't you fucking dare make such hilarious accusations! He's just a bandage wasting, suicidal machine! Don't waste time on him" [Name] exclaimed, pointing a finger at the 'oblivious' Dazai at the counter.
Atsushi laughed at this, making [Name] calm down a little. The teen's laugh was so precious that [Name] couldn't even dare to be angry.
From hearing this, Dazai deadpanned as he took a seat beside [Name].
"Is every hat wearing mafia required to be this mean?" Dazai whispered which didn't go unnoticed by [Name]. Atsushi, however unknowingly interrupted the latter from her soon to be released outburst.
"Ne, [Name]-san, you seem very close to Dazai-san. Do you happen to know his occupation before joining the Agency?" Atsushi asked which drew Tanizaki's attention.
Dazai squeezed [Name]'s elbow from under the table, a silent warning not to tell. [Name] understood this as she's in the same preposition as he is. They were partners before, after all.
"Eh, why'd you ask? What's so special about this fucktard?" [Name] nonchalantly asked, casually throwing in a few insults in the process.
"Ah, we're playing a game. Whoever guesses Dazai-san' s previous occupation, they'd get ¥700,000." Atsushi explained simply.
The female smiled to herself, it was as if a tradition that has passed down from her, from Dazai and from Port Mafia.
"Oh wow! ¥700,000 you say?" [Name] asked with sparkles in her eyes. There was nothing wrong wanting a little bit more money, is there not? Seeing the sparkles in her eyes, Dazai nudged her and she regained composture.
"Oh well I'm out of the game." [Name] said as she shrugged her shoulder.
"Why is that, [Last Name]-san?" asked Tanizaki.
"I could give you a hint. We were actually co-workers." [Name] said, fuelling the curiosity of the teenagers.
"Teachers?" "No."
"Accountants?" "Nope. I hate maths"
"Doctors?" "Damn, I wish"
"Policemen?" "Nah."
"Carpenters?" "Osamu is just all brains." "Hey!""Hmm, what occupations would allow them to be co-workers and yet very close at the same time?.." Atsushi mumbled to himself.
[Name] heard this though.
"Oh that? Osamu is actually my ex boyfriend." [Name] said then smiled, a close eyed one.
"EhhHHhH?!"
___
Dazai Osamu didn't really feel weird around her now that years have long gone passed. Despite not seeing her for years, he still felt comfortable. He was yet again being welcomed by the warmth that radiated off of [Name].
Their breakup was one where it ended on good terms. Dazai knew that [Name] will feel distant once her intuition tells her that Dazai will be leaving Port Mafia. Dazai knew that before he could even leave her in Port Mafia, she'd leave him first.
On the other hand, [Name] knew that one day Dazai would leave Port Mafia. That day will be the day where he'll be encourage by words she never get to tell him. She knew he'd be distant. She knew of Mori's plans, after all. She knew she needed to leave him in order for her feeling to be spared.
He predicted that this would happen. He predicted that they would be back, much closer than ever, within arms reach. Much closer than they were back then in Port Mafia.
For that to happen, she has to pass the Agency's entrance exam first. And that, Dazai fully knows that she will. Smiling to himself, he snaked an arm around [Name]'s shoulder,
"Let's raise the grand prize to ¥1,000,000 if anyone guesses [Name]'s job as well!" Dazai said with a cheery close eyed smile.
