Patrick's door knocked repetitively. He jumped from his seat, knowing it's her. He opened the door, and revealed Ellen, holding a suitcase, her cheeks covered in tears. "I'm a divorcée." Her hands flew in the air. "Come here." Patrick whispered and pulled her in for a hug, letting her break down in his arms.
"It's okay." His hand caressed the back of her head. He filled his lungs with her sent. She was his now. All of her. He didn't have to worry about Chris' hands on her. He didn't have to stand backstage at an award show he was hosting and watch as he caressed her thigh.
Now she can be with him, backstage. He knows that he should be thinking about her, reassuring her. A self-conscious part of him presumed himself as selfish. But, in what better way can he comfort her, other that offering her forever?
She deserves so much more than forever.
"Let's go inside." Patrick placed his hand on Ellen's lower back and pushed her inside gently. He then grabbed her suitcase and placed it right next to the door.
Patrick led Ellen to the couch and helped her sit down. "Let me grab you a cup of water, okay?" Ellen nodded. It took him less than a minute to be back in the living room. He handed her the cup and sat down next to her.
Ellen scooted over to him and curled herself next to him. His arm wrapped around her and his hand caressed her head. "Did he, hurt you?" Ellen shook her head. "I have no idea why I'm so exhausted, I'm sorry." Ellen tried to stand up, acting tough, but Patrick stopped her.
"Hey hey, it's alright. You've spent over ten years with that man, you had his kid. I get it."
She didn't answer him, instead, she wrapped her arms around his torso. "Hey, I have an idea, what about a hot bubbly bath?" Ellen looked up at him and smiled. "Yeah, I like that."
"C'mon then." They both stood up and walked to his bathroom. Patrick turned the water to hot and let the water run. Ellen sat down on the toilet chair and he kneeled down in front of her. "You're the most beautiful, and strongest woman I've ever met in my entire life, Ellen." His hand tugged her hair behind her ear.
"Thank you, for always being here for me, Patrick." He shook his head, smiling at her in obvious regret. "I haven't been here for you. I should've done this a long time ago, Ell. And I'm not gonna ask you to give me a chance to make it up, I wanna make it right."
"Oh Patrick," Ellen cupped his face, leaning down to rest their foreheads against each other. "You've already made it up." A huge smile drew on both their faces, and they leaned in at the same time, connecting their lips with so much love and passion.
This is the reward. The reward for all the pain, and the suffering, that we would not be able to fit in one book. They knew that their story was unique. It was somehow perfect. Because every move they made, every step they took, every obstacle, was to lead them back to each other.
And now, they know, that they are a magnetic force of nature, and no matter how much they try to avoid it, deny it, or stop it, they're gonna end up in each other's arms anyways. Because this is where they are supposed to be.
They are each other's fate, and nothing can stand in the way of that. Not even death, will do them apart, because their love is just so much bigger than life itself. It's magical. It's the reason people still believe in joy, and have hope.
Patrick stood up, as the kiss ended and turned off the faucet. Ellen's phone buzzed, and she sighed. "It's been going crazy since this morning, I never showed up to set and I don't feel like talking to anyone. "Can I answer it?" Patrick opened his palm in front of Ellen and she shrugged, handing him her phone. He pecked her lips. "Get in the tub."
Patrick leaned against the door, watching Ellen comfortably getting undressed as he picked up the phone. "Hello? Oh hi Debbie." Ellen noticed his eyes on her figure so she gave him a small smile before she drowned the piece of art that is her body in the hot water, closing her eyes as she felt her muscles relax. "Yes, no it's me, Patrick."
"Ellen's fine, she's just very exhausted. Is it okay if I take a sick day for her?" He nodded. "Thank you. Say hi to everyone for me." He hung up and placed her phone on the toilet seat where Ellen was sitting minutes ago. "She just avoided to ask why I'm with you, huh?" She smiled. "Apparently," He smiled, undressing himself.
Patrick placed his palm on Ellen's naked back and she moved so he can sit behind her in the tub. He rested his back against it and she leaned back against his chest. His arms wrapped from over her shoulders, down to her stomach where their fingers intertwined.
Patrick planted kisses on Ellen's neck, and she closed her eyes, enjoying the affection he was giving her. "Patrick?" She whispered. "Hm?" Was the only sound he could make. "Can we not, have sex today?" Patrick couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "Funny, I didn't think about it until now." Ellen smiled. He kissed her neck again. "You're more than just sex, Ell. Take time, rest. We have time."
"We have time." She repeated, letting it sink in. "Yes, we do." They sat there for a moment, but it was obvious that Patrick was thinking. "But Ellen, I don't wanna wait."
"You just said," He cut her off. "No. I don't wanna wait." Ellen turned around facing him. His elbows rested on her knees as he leaned forward, holding her hands again. "Marry me." Her eyes widened. "Patrick," Ellen gasped. "No, I'm serious! Why wait? I love you and you love me, and we have been waiting for this our entire lives."
He tilted his head. "Marry me Ellen, please." When she looked at his eyes again, he noticed that a tear had rolled down his face. "Are those happy tears?" She shook her head in awe, slapping his chest. "Did you just propose to me in a bathtub?" He laughed. "Was it bad?"
"No! No, no." She jumped in his lap, kissing him. He pulled her away. "That's a..."
"A yes. it's a yes." She kissed him again. "I love you so much, Patrick." Patrick wrapped his arms around the back of her neck, pulling her to one of the warmest hugs they have ever shared. "I love you too, forever."
