I slowly opened my eyes to discover that there was an empty void of darkness surrounding me. I couldn't tell how big the space I was in was. I had a terrible pain in my head, probably the after-effects of the fall. I tried to move, only to meet a burning pain in every joint and muscle in my body. I gasped and took a few breaths before trying again. That time I managed to pull myself up onto my knees and from there, hoist myself onto my feet. It was still dark. I settled on the fact that the space I was in was not a room or a cave, but something big. Something very large. As I stumbled around taking my first few painful steps, I tripped over something cold and hard. I felt around the area where I tripped and my fingers glided over the surface of something cold, and hard. It had a slight moist feeling about it and it had a very rough, gritty texture. A word suddenly popped into my mind.
"Stone." The object was called a stone. I tried to get up again, and this time I was able to do it much more easily. I took a few shaky steps forward with my arms outstretched, and I hit something cold, hard, and rough. It was another stone. But this stone was different from the other stone. It was very tall and skinny, another word popped into my mind. "Pole." It was shaped like a pole. I felt around and up the pole and discovered that it reached up high into the space. With one hand on the pole, I inched forward a few steps and realised that there was another pole only a few strides away. I reached out my arm and waved it around for a while, searching for another pole. My arm hit another one, and after that, another one. As I stumbled around blindly, I discovered that this space was full of stone poles. After what seemed like a lifetime of stumbling around blindly with my arms outstretched, occasionally bumping into the strange poles, I found to my surprise that there were no more poles. But even more surprising than that was the tiny speck of something bright in the distance. This time the word "light" popped into my head. I sped up my strides and pointed myself in the general direction of the lights.
After much time passed, the lights and their owners came into view.
