Eragon

I search through the rubble of Galbatorix's old throne room. I keep thinking about Arya, and how my heart stopped when she didn't come out from the debris, and then how it soared when she did. It looked like these was nothing here of value that could be salvaged. Even Gabatorix's mighty throne could not stand the weight of the ceiling crashing down upon it at. Saphira! I call with my mind. I'm coming, little one. My dragon replies. The ground shudders when she drops next to me, and I crawl up her foreleg. When I am comfortable enough in the saddle, I reach towards the flow of energy that is her mind and tell her: go to that hallway, and send a picture of the one I want in her direction. She swoops low, and dives towards the half-ruined corridor.

"Woohoo!" I scream out loud. Arya hears my whoop and glances over from the ground, on the back of Fírnen, where she is perched. The ground quakes again when Saphira lands. I climb down her leg and walk into the hallway. I am able to get in because part of it was smashed during the battle. I climb over some misplaced stones and venture further into the castle.

"Garjzla," I say quietly. A white ball of light appears above my head, illuminating all surfaces with the same amount of energy, making everything appear flat. As I near an intersection, I hear a noise coming from the hallway to the right. Curious, but a little scared, I tell Saphira: I'm going down the left passage. I heard a noise.

Be careful! She says back. As I walk down the passage, I decide to dim the light floating above me. If the thing that made this noise is human, it could see my light and attack me. I stop at another crossroads and follow the noise down another hallway. I stop again and listen more carefully. It sounds like metal being rubbed against stone. The noise gets louder and louder, so I know that I am nearing its source. I walk as quietly as I can, not wanting to forewarn anyone of my presence. The noise stops suddenly and I do too, a little scared. On the left wall in front of me is a cell with iron bars. Galbatorix kept prisoners aboveground, not just in his dungeons? I think then take one step forward. At least I know now that whatever was in there can't hurt me, for he/she is behind metal bars. I turn to look inside the cage, and nearly stumble back in shock. For there, cloaked in shadow, is a girl. Staring at me with silver eyes.
