During a break, Rie, Kaito, and Hakuba went through the case again. They've been doing this ever since the case opened a week ago. Aoko still sat with them, but she only listened and occasionally mentioned something her dad said that relates to the case.

"There hasn't been activity from Kaitou Kid and Faux Kid." Hakuba started. "And Akako's body is gone." He then took a bite of his sandwich, waiting for a reply. Kaito was still grumpy from the aggravation hours ago, leaving Rie to answer Hakuba.

"How about the crime scene? Was there anything significant there at all?" Rie sighed, not wanting to be in between of Hakuba and Kaito. Aoko looked at her with sympathy and offered a piece of her food with her at which Rie politely declined.

"The jewel he intended to steal was left behind. It was found on the balcony where the victim fell off from. And the blood underneath the balcony has been tested as well. It was definitely Akako's."

"And that's the only data we have on the victim, huh. Unfortunate." Kaito finally joined the conversation. Hakuba sent him a doubting glance.

"Do you have any news at all regarding Kid, Kuroba-kun? I expect you, of all people, would know his activities-"

"Nothing. I know as much as the public, which is nothing." Kaito nonchalantly cut him off with a shrug. "Besides, we've already established that it isn't him, right? You got that note."

"That note doesn't prove anything. Anyone could've written it." Hakuba retorted with a huff. Kaito shrugged again, seemingly uninterested.

"Dad did mention that this was weird behavior coming from Kid. He tells me that it makes him look guilty." Aoko added. The boys looked at her intently, as if waiting for more. Aoko jolted from the sudden attention and tried to continue. "B- But if you ask me, maybe Kid's just waiting for the perfect chance to appear again. Don't you think so, Rie-chan?" She chuckled nervously, patting Rie's shoulder.

"I- I suppose that's a possibility." Rie croaked out. "Were there other witnesses, Haku-san?" She had her head low, consciously avoiding any further conflict between Kaito and Hakuba.

"They all say the same thing as I witnessed. The guards who were inside with the jewel were put to sleep, a classic Kid move." Hakuba answered. Kaito snorted at the comment.

"He doesn't use it that often."

"I'm pretty sure he does."

"He definitely does."

"Shut up, both of you." Kaito groaned at Hakuba and Rie respectively. Aoko chuckled a bit, making Rie smile slightly and even Kaito spared a grin. The break ended with a lighter atmosphere.

Rie was on her desk at home, studying diligently and trying to forget about her day. It was mentally exhausting. She didn't want to deal with her emotions and thoughts anymore and just wanted to pretend to be a normal highschool student for a while. Unfortunately, Kaito had different plans. Rie's phone buzzed with a text notification.

"Naito-chaaaan~! I've missed you so much!" Said the text. She loudly grimaced, asking herself why Kaitou would text her now of all times.

"Kiddo-kun, I can't say the same." She replied with a frown. She set her phone down and within a second, it buzzed once more.

"I haven't talked to anyone in weeks and I've missed you so much, Naito-chan! Can't I get at least an 'I missed you too'?" Rie frowned, though she hated to admit she was relieved to hear from Kaito this way.

"Do you need me, Kiddo-kun? I'm busy."

"You can't be busy! We don't have a heist!"

"I have a life outside being your errand girl, Kiddo-kun."
