Memories we lost

Sitting alone with the setting sun
Watching the sky shed its beautiful  colour
As darkness rolls with its dark coat
And the stars begin dancing on its coat
Memories flood my mind

I reel back to the olden days
Those times we had fire in our hearts
Spirits higher than the clouds
Wonder in out eyes
Patience sick enough  to wait
And the world to ourselves

I smile as I reminisce
On those wonderful  times of our lives
As a tear find its way down my cheeks
Rolling without care and caution

I swipe away the tear
Then continue gazing ahead
On the forgotten land of memories
That lays far behind in the past
Which clearly did not last

I remember the many vows we took
Just to promise ourselves forever
Which was selfish not to last long  enough
To be worth treasuring

I think about the endless noise
That used to escape our lungs
As laughter filled the air
Loud enough to awake the dead

I remind myself of the things we always spoke
Those words that had energy in our blind words
The ride across the world we planned to take
The endless road trips we dreamed of having
The food that always made our mouths water

As I think about this things
As I remember about the memories
As the events unfolds
I wonder where are you?
so we could own to our promises
And live down our dreams
But I realize these are the memories we lost
