ELENA'S POV:

12:30PM my phone read. I groaned and shoved it back under my pillow. Today was Wednesday, and I should've been in school 3 hours ago. I sat myself up in bed, and looked around at how messy my room had become. There it was. That damn champion hoodie. The memories came rushing back and I felt my eyes well up for what must've been the 10th time this week. I realised I hadn't been in school since Monday and winced at the thought of how much work I'd have to catch up on. I'd told Mom that I had a bad case of the flu, I really wish it was the flu.

I managed to drag myself out of bed and put on a random hoodie with shorts. I put my hair up -in a messy bun and wiped away any mascara stains from my cheeks. I made my way downstairs and Mom had lunch made on the table.
"Afternoon Honey! You haven't come out your room for days, are you feeling better?" she said. I know it was like 1pm but she was way too happy, and I had a migraine which wasn't clashing too well with Mom's bubbly attitude.
"Yeah a little" I gave her a half smile and went over to the food, turning my back to her.
"How was your date Elena? You never got chance to tell me how it went?"
I felt the tears form in my eyes and quickly blinked them away, and swallowed hard so the lump in my throat would disappear already.
"Oh it was great, loved every second" I said, keeping myself turned away from her so she wouldn't suspect anything.
"That's great!" She exclaimed, making me roll my eyes. "I'm heading to work now, so look after yourself baby" she came up to me and kissed the top of my head before walking out.

I spent the rest of my day doing nothing, even though I knew I'd have mountains of homework to do.

*DING*

Ugh, I reluctantly stopped my movie marathon and got up from under the blanket. I opened the door and laughed a little.
"You've got some nerve pulling up to my house Kairi" I said.
"I know, and I'm sorry, for the 1000th time I just-" he started
"You really think sorry cuts it?" I almost laughed.
"No but Elena you've gotta believe me-"
"Believe that you're a heartbreaker?"
His face dropped and he looked offended. "What? No! I would never-"
"Go home Kairi" I started shutting the door but he grabbed it just in time so it stayed open.
"Elena just fucking listen" he seemed genuine at this point, I wanted to hear him out but a part of me just wanted to slam the door in his face.
"No need to be so dramatic" I said sarcastically, while folding my arms across my chest.
He sighed and shook his head "Elena I swear that bet was never my idea. It's something a lot of people are doing on the internet, and if you don't believe me search it up. We were trying to, I don't know, be cool or something"
I raised an eyebrow.
"b-but it didn't work, I mean clearly" he gestured between me and him "it really didn't work and I fucking regret it Elena. I really like you which is why when I agreed to it I wanted to make sure I was the one who kissed you, cause the rest of the guys would see it as a joke. I don't wanna break your heart, that's the last thing on earth I wanna do. I'm sorry I'm so fucking sorry and I wish this never happened".
His head was in his hands at this point and he really did look broken. I pulled him into a hug and held onto him, and he did the same.
"I'm sorry for overreacting Kai, I get it was a joke" I said quietly.
"You had every right to overreact, I had no right to play with your heart like that".

We spent the rest of the evening watching High School Musical, mainly so we could sing at the top of our lungs everytime a song came on. I can't remember what time it was but I woke up on the couch with Kairi laying next to me. His arms were wrapped round me and he tightened his grip on me when I tried to sit up. I looked at my phone, 3:37am. I sighed and looked over at Kairi. He looked so peaceful when he was asleep. So were we back on? Are we back to dating? Ugh too many questions for this early in the morning. I turned to Kairi and gently kissed his cheek without waking him and buried my head in his neck.

I wished we could stay in that position forever.
