The evil...

There was another earth shaking boom, which managed to also set off the sprinklers. Matthew went to the door and opened it back up, only to peer outside, not to leave the safety of said room. The computer room was now a horribly wet mess. Some of the computers were overturned, and the screams from the others had become defining. "What the heck happened here?" Matthew asked himself. He looked back at the now empty room that he was supposed to be monitoring and decided that he would be better off in the computer room anyway, at least that way he could possibly find out what was happening. Matthew stepped out into the computer room, and closed the door to the observation room behind him, with no intention of ever going back in that room.

After he was out of the observation room he made a dash for the entrance to the computer room. On his way there he caught something in the corner of his eye. He stopped and looked through one of the glass walls to see a man running through the now flooded floor and screaming "It's out! It's out." Soon after the poor mans head popped. There was a loud sound like a balloon being popped by a pin, and then the wall Matthew was looking through was instantly covered with red blood, that was soon followed by a clicking sound as fragments of the mans skull pattered against the glass wall. Matthew was wise not to think about what the man had said. Matthew also rethought his previous thought, which was to leave the computer room. He instead supposed it was a much better idea to just stay in one place, after all, he had no idea what else could have gotten out. So Matthew jumped behind one of the desks that still remained standing.

"Okay...I just fucked over a possibly multi-trillion dollar facility and priceless research. I think I'm going to be fired on my first day." Matthew laughed at himself. He was trying to keep his sense of humor going just to stay sane. Though his grip was slowly slipping. But at that moment he felt good enough to think his way out of the predicament. "So...I just need to make it back to that elevator, though I don't know how that would work since a lot of others are also probably trying to get out that way. So I think I'm going to have to find another way out. Maybe if I can find Otto he could show me another way out." Matthew was happy that he was still capable of working things out in his mind, it showed that he wasn't completely and totally crazy just yet, but that didn't mean that he was safe yet. "Now all I need to do first is find Otto. That shouldn't be too hard right?" Again he heard more screaming as if it was answering him. "Okay maybe not. He wen't to the engineering section right? I suppose it couldn't hurt since the damage has already been done. But there were a lot of containment rooms down that way. At the least I should probably be on my guard if I'm thinking about doing this. Though I guess I have no choice seeing as how sitting here is doing me absolutely no good at all." Matthew peeked over the desk he was sitting behind to look down the hallway toward the engineering area. However he found that he couldn't see anything down that hallway since there was blood covering the glass. Matthew gathered his nerves and stood up from behind the desk, hoping that nothing would jump on him. After discovering that nothing attacked him, he bolted for the door. Once he was through the door he ran straight down the hallway.

His vision wasn't the best and the fact that only the red emergency lights were on didn't help at all, but he could easily tell that something had happened on the far side. It at least appeared that the walls were scorched, and some of the containment doors were open, that worried him more than anything else. His second greatest worry was that Otto probably didn't make it. The engineering area looked decimated, even from Matthews distance. Not to say that it wasn't expected, but that didn't make it any better.

Eventually Matthew reached the end of the hallway. He had still not been attacked by anything, but the bad news out weighted the good news. As he looked around he realized that it was worse than he had thought before. The walls were breaking in, and machinery was either completely destroyed, or just turned off. The worst part was that live wires were dangling from the ceiling and the rising water level was getting closer to them. Matthew was happy that he didn't stay in the computer room, other wise the water could have reached the wires and made the area impossible to traverse. Though it did occur to him that after he ran through the area, it may be impossible to go back the same way, and considering he didn't know his way around the place, it could mean that he wold get lost, which was not something that he needed and meant that he really did need to find Otto, and fast.
