Matthew was beginning to get impatient. While he did in fact like the place quite a bit,but he was just not used to it yet, and didn't like being left alone with nothing to do. All he could do was sit in front of the computer and watch it flicker on and off. It was at times like those that he hated boredom. It got to the point where randomly pushing keys on the key board proved to be entertaining. While it really didn't do anything, and didn't really help do anything, it certainly did provide a suitable distraction for him to enjoy.
After randomly typing on the keyboard for a while he finally decided that enough was enough. He was going to try and follow Otto, because he really didn't want to just sit around and do nothing, while there was plenty that he could do for the place. After looking around the computer room and seeing that no one was in it anyway to stop him, not that they would, Matthew got up from his chair, and walked toward the door. It was only after he was already two feet out of the room that someone actually stopped him. "Wait!" Was all Matthew could hear. He was pretty sure that the voice said something else, but he couldn't hear it over the rapid clicking of the persons shoes on the floor as they ran toward him. Matthew turned around and saw who the voice belonged to. It was a small man who was also wearing a lab coat, but it seemed a little bit too big on him. He wore big think rimmed glasses, and had a bald spot forming on the top of his blond hair. The man looked sad, and pressured. Stress was probably the cause of his over aged appearance. "Hey! I said wait!" The man yelled after Matthew. Matthew finally stopped and waited for the small man. The small man came to a stop in-front of Matthew. "Thank you. Sorry I'm late." The small man said once he had caught up to Matthew.
"You're the one Otto sent for me?" Matthew asked a little disappointingly. He had honestly been expecting someone else.
"Yes sorry I'm so late. I was just really busy with somethings. Anyway. My name is Derick. Nice to meet you Matthew."
"Nice to meet you as well Derick." Matthew found that even the small mans name was disappointing. Matthew was actually underwhelmed. "So are we going to be doing some things now? Or are we just going to sit around and wait for a bit longer?"
"No, I think I have been keeping you waiting long enough. Follow me." Matthew did as the small man said, and followed close behind. The small man lead Matthew right back into the large observation room. Though he didn't set Matthew down at any computers. Instead he simply took Matthew back into a side room that he had not seen before. Probably because he had rushed Otto out of the room so he didn't actually get a full tour of the place. The side room was also quite big, but void of any distinct features. There were only to things in the room. A small chair, and a large TV screen which was set into the far wall. Matthew figured that the TV was just far enough away that he wouldn't have an effect on it.
"So no fancy furniture in here huh?" Matthew asked sarcastically.
"No we can't have anything distracting in here. It would distract whoever was assigned to watch the subject, and possibly critical details would be missed."
"Yeah... I know."
"So if you haven't guessed already, your task for today is simple. You are to watch your assigned subject, and make sure you take notes. These things do something new everyday."
"So when do I start?"
"As soon as they bring the picture up." As if on cue the TV flickered on once he said that. The room which was being displayed however seemed empty.
"Hey is that room supposed to be empty?" Matthew asked.
"No it's in there. Hold on, I'll get them to put in on inferred." Derick pulled a walkie talkie from his lab coat pocket. "Hey Henry. Can you attach an inferred converting file to the feed coming in to observing room one-9c?" Was all he said into it. At first nothing happened, and just when Matthew thought they were not going to show the subject, the video changed to a screen of red and blue colors. The wall of the room were now a deep blue indicating that it was cold. But there appeared to be a mass of bright white fog grouped in the middle of the room. The spot moved around the room, but didn't seem to be doing much else. "Ah there is the subject. I tell you that things is weird. I don't know what it is but it always freaks me out."
