Elemental Prodigy - Chapter 2

Rishi Charles' Point Of View (POV)

My blonde hair was tied. I had a sturdy shirt over my blue overall that carefully went together with my blue, rubber boots. Kino, Triston and I were on our way to the lakeside to enjoy the remaining days before High School began. We brought a few snacks and drinks with us along with some cards. We quickly reached the lakeside and started by preparing the snacks we brought. Admittedly, I had a huge crush on Kino, he was my first friend and treated me like a girl even though I sometimes acted like a tomboy. Before I knew it, we were done unpacking our things and Triston was setting up cards for us to play. We played for a few minutes and started playing in the river a few moments later.

I took a vine that was hanging on a tree close to the river and tried swinging on it. Unfortunately, it snapped. I fell towards Kino and we both stumbled in the water. We both laughed together while Triston splashed us with water. Time quickly went by and we were packing to head back. It was then that we saw it. A massive plume of smoke filling the sky. The smoke ended up leading us to Kino's house with his father's dead body. Triston and I stood paralyzed and shocked with fear while Kino ran towards his father, embracing him crying out in pain. Soon adults began to cluster the place and told us to leave. I wanted to stay to help Kino but we were already being dragged away by our parents. That was the last time I saw Kino.

The first day of High School began and Kino was nowhere to be found. Triston came up to me during lunch break and told me that Kino left the town with his brother and wouldn't be attending this high school. I tried to hold my tears back but I couldn't, my best friend was now gone. I decided I would change myself, not just for Kino's sake but for mine. I would become more ladylike and remove from my tomboy persona.

14th September 2020 - Present

After asking us to showcase our powers the teacher wanted the top four of us to battle and I got put against Audra, the slut. She is given that name by the boys because she puts up a kind and gentle persona in front of them but all she cares about is physical contact. She has been with over twelve guys from freshman year to junior year and that's all we know about.

Kino has returned to the school but he seems way different than before, his friendly and bright red eyes now turned cold and deep with sadness. He has been through a lot over the two years I guess. The first battle is ours followed by Triston. While I was walking to my corner I noticed Kino staring at me so I returned his stare and walked calmly and diligently to my side whilst Audra slowly made her way there. The teacher began the countdown;

"3.... 2.... 1.... Official Elemental Match Begin!"

With the last word of the teacher's countdown, Audra made a tornado about five feet tall coming directly towards me but I lept out the way counterattacking by liquifying the ground under her. She managed to use the wind to fling herself in the air and countered by sending a furious currents of wind impossible to dodge. I still attempted but it managed to slice a piece of clothing on my knees nearly cutting my skin. Our classmates roared in excitement for her throwing me off my game a little bit whilst she kept sending the same currents of wind. After successfully dodging a few I found a way to use my water prison. Every time she used the current of wind after three attempts her left was vulnerable. I waited for the perfect timing and turned the ground under her to mud. She nearly slipped and because of that she was off her game. Then I had enough time to use my poison water prison. She was trapped in a purple ball of liquid with blue smoke and once she inhaled the smoke she would be paralyzed. It took a few moments but once she became paralyzed I released the spell and she fell and laid there. I finished the competition by combining my Wind element and Water element and made an ice spike and flew it into her left leg. It pierced through her leg causing it to gush out blood.
