After this, the Badi Begum of Bijapur requested Aurangzeb to help them. Aurangzeb sent his maternal uncle Shaista Khan with about 150,000 strong armies, Shaista and his heavily armed forces seized Pune and established resistance at Lal palace Shivaji and his troops of some 400 followers infilled Pune, using a wedding procession as cover. In the night they launched an audacious attack directly on Shaista Khan. Khan saved himself by jumping out of the window but for doing that he lost 3 fingers.
