By 1670 AD Shivaji launched a huge offensive campaign and in four months he recovered a major portion of the territory surrendered to the Mughals. From 1671 to 1674 AD, Aurangzeb tried everything in his power to subdue Shivaji but failed miserably. Additionally, Adil shah died in 1672 and Bijapur fell into disarray.
