Little Aiko looked up at her mother. She had been acting differently ever since the had moved to Japan from America a few days ago. Yuki hadn't looked her daughter in the eyes for days. This was a big problem, mainly because Aiko couldn't communicate with her at all (A/N: Yuki is deaf so Aiko had to learn sign language in order to communicate with her). It most likely because of her father's death. Itachi Tatsuryu was the number three pro hero in America, Akuma. (A/N: Akuma means demon in Japanese, so to those who watch Miraculous Ladybug, yes, Hawkmoth has a bunch of evil demon butterflies). They had gotten lost taking a walk around their new neighborhood, as her mom had forgot a map or her phone with the GPS function. Yuki turned them into a dark alleyway, which led to, surprise surprise, another dead end. As they turned around to head back, the surrounding shadows started to move around and change shape. Aiko grabbed onto her mothers arm and looked around, wide-eyed.

"Hello again, Yuki," a voice said creepily while the shadows fluxed to form sign language, "I see you've finally brought your brat along with you this time we meet. She's around four, yes? Should be getting her quirk soon."

Her mother stiffened and pulled her daughter in close with one hand, and holding out her other, her eyes glowing blue in preparation to used her water control quirk. The voice laughed.

"Your little tricks won't help you this time, Yuki."

The shadows started moving faster and changing from 2-dimensional to solid, stabbing Yuki through the heart with a particularly sharp shadow spike. A man made of shadow materialized and held his hand out to the girl.

"I'll come back when you've toughened up a bit, little lady."

The girl, crying and confused, but also extremely angry, glared at the man, shaking. Her eyes started to glow blue, just like her mother's did when she used her quirk, her tears glowing as well. The shadow-man grinned and disappeared, leaving the girl alone with her mother's cold and still body.

Suddenly, another shadow spike materialized behind her, slashing her across the eye. The girl cried out in pain, skill holding on to her mother.

"Just something to remember me by," the voice said, "I'll come pick you up n a years time."

The girl glared in the direction of his voice as the shadows went back to normal. She resolved to devote year next year alone to survival, learning to protect herself, and improving herself, pushing aside any and all emotion.

"I'll mourn later," she thought, "When I've survived this next year and killed Shi no Kage (Death Shadow)."

And she was left alone with only her thoughts and newfound power for company.
