I ran.
I was a coward.
Despite my brave words to Nick, instead of confronting Adrien as soon as class ended and we got home, I got all depressed again about my crush/best friend earning his way towards a prison cell and decided to procrastinate by telling Peter that I wanted to play video games at his house today.
Some sorry excuse for a Gryffindor I am!
I didn't even want to play video games! I just didn't want to have to deal with all of this right now! I'm horrible! And selfish! ARGH! And you should've seen the face Adrien made when I told him I wouldn't be walking home with him today and going straight to Peter's along with Wade.
"Oh, okay", he muttered softly, dejected, looking like a small, abandoned kitten.
Argh, it was killing me!
I felt even worse after that; it was awful! Sure, he'd blinded two people, but look at those sad, big, blue eyes! Who could win against that?! I mean, was it really unreasonable of me to want to be able to have fun with my best friend and flirt with my crush? They're not even two different people, they're the same one!
If only his alter ego wasn't my alter ego's enemy as well...
To be honest, if I'd known the mess that today was going to be, I would've kissed Adrien yesterday when I had the chance; I would've completely ignored someone's interrupting calls (I'm looking at you, mom).
If only I could turn back time, just for a minute. Just for one minute of feeling his lips against mine—
"Ha! Got you, you sucker! Hey, don't attack me back, that's not fair!" Wade exclaimed, as he furiously button-mashed the Wii controller, playing Super Smash Bros. against Peter.
Right, I'm here, I suddenly remembered, getting startled out of my thoughts.
"We've been over this before, Wade, the objective of the game is to attack each other, so, I'm going to attack you back", Peter explained, as if he was talking to a little kid.
"But I wanna win..." Wade muttered, as if he was a little kid.
Peter simply rolled his eyes and gave up.
We always came to Peter's house to play video games since he was the one with the largest collection of games out of the three of us. Though Wade had newer and fancier consoles, but he didn't live within walking distance of the school.
I could've played along with them (Peter did have enough controllers), but I told them that I'd sit this round out and just ended up sulking on the bed behind them, rereading Adrien's and my conversation from last night:
