"And I will tell you again. There is no reason that this should have happened." Colin snarled.

The man struggled against his restraints as his alpha argued with the strange woman.

"You can't kill him, it goes against everything I've taught you—"

"The only thing you've ever taught me to do is kill." He grit. "And when a disgusting excuse for a member of my kind touches a pup of my pack, the only tolerable punishment is death."

The goddess disappeared into thin air, letting Colin back to his torture.

"If you like touching little pups so much, you'll beg for me for me to send you to Hades when I'm through with you."

Colin felt his mate's touch pull him from his dreams, pulling him back into the present. He kept his gaze on her, forcing himself to forget the nightmare he was just awakened from.

Her hand immediately pulled away when she noticed he had awakened.

"Good morning, little one." He rumbled.

A blush grew on her cheeks. "Good morning." She was partially underneath him, her body cocooned in blankets. "Are you alright?" She asked him. He looked tenser than usual.

He seemed to snap out of whatever daze he was in a began to stand, nodding his head as he distanced himself from her.

Her eyebrows furrowed as she pulled the blanket up to her chin, now significantly more comfortable without the lycan's ungodly body heat.

"You should go back to sleep. It is still early, Adelisa."

She heard the warning in his words loud and clear. "Okay." She murmured, eyes fluttering closed.

A growl threatened to rip out of his chest when he left the room. Every fiber of his being wanted, no, needed to be there with her.

He knew he couldn't even think of sleeping without her by his side now. His body craved more sleep and be found himself refusing to give in. He couldn't and wouldn't get close to her.

It would only bring her pain.

He walked downstairs and outside into the light drizzle, quickly shifting into his wolf form before running out into the vast forest.

Adelisa tossed and turned once Colin left. She felt unsafe in the house, alone and cold.

"Quit running, Colin."

The beast froze, a sneer forming on his face. "Don't lecture me, mother."

"I am not lecturing you." The goddess sighed, walking in front of him. "I only want you to see that she is good for you-"

Colin's bones popped back into place as he shifted back. "You never liked her! You never once said that I deserved a mate and out of the "goodness" of your heart you made her mine. She died. She'll die again. I refuse to live through that pain again."

"I am not going to allow it to happen again."

He scoffed. "I'm sure that you can play fate like that."

"I have Hades' blessing." Her fingers waved in the air, a cloud of smoke showing three woman gathered around a young girl, her striking white hair fanned out like a halo against her silken pillow. "Her soul has been bound to her body. She has been blessed by Aphrodite herself. She will not age past 25, the prime of her development in Aphrodite's eyes."
