"You are as good as Yunho, Mingi, and no one is better than anyone. You need to fight for her, and I will help you," she said. I scrunched my eyebrows together in confusion and exchanged a look with San.
"How?" we asked in chorus.
"I'll go on the double date with you, and I'll make sure you tell her how you feel."
Today was the day. You were finally going to meet Mingi and his girlfriend. You were shuffling through your closet, frustrated that you couldn't find anything to wear. What should you wear to a mini-golf date? Maybe something comfortable, cute, and fancy? You shook your head back and forth, and you threw every garment over your shoulders. You ran from the closet to your drawers, hoping to find something decent to wear. You wanted to look drop-dead gorgeous for Mingi-- er, for Yunho? You shook your head and pressed two fingers against your temple. Ever since Mingi witnessed you kissing Yunho, you couldn't take Mingi off your head. It was a complicated situation for you since Yunho was the total package, and he was so sweet to you always.
But Mingi, there was something about Mingi that enticed you to him. He has been your best friend for ages now, but your heart couldn't help to flutter each time he was around you. You dug around back into your closet and found the perfect thing to wear. A simple dark purple sundress, and you matched it with a pair of white vans. After you changed, you heard your phone ringing. You rushed to get it and checked the caller ID.
"Yunho! Hi, are you here already?" you asked sweetly.
"Yes, I am outside your house. Do you want me to come in? I'm a bit early, maybe we could--? You know?" Yunho said. You could hear the embarrassment behind his voice, and you knew exactly what he wanted. Your cheeks were warm as you realized you'd taken too long to answer back.
"Ah, Yunho. No. I mean, yes. But, no, we shouldn't," you said quickly. You took a deep breath before continuing. Why does this boy make you so nervous? "Let's go early. There's usually always a line anyways."
"Oh, okay. Sorry, Y/N. Come out when you're ready then!" Yunho said before hanging up. You felt terrible rejecting his makeout session request, but you knew once it happens, it'll be official that you were dating. Being official was a scary thought, and you quickly push the idea out of your head. You grabbed your purse and did a last check in the bathroom mirror. You nodded in satisfaction, and you rushed out of your house to Yunho's car. He was waiting for you outside of his car. He was leaning back against the car, and was observing some squirrels playing in a tree. Yunho heard your footsteps and faced towards you, a huge smile appearing instantly.
"Hi, baby," Yunho said. He reached out to hug you, and you accepted the hug-- it was warm, and honestly, the best hug you've ever had. You stepped back from the embrace, and you grasped his arms.
"Don't call me that, Yunho," you said. His smile disappeared, and he started to pout. Why were you so mean to him? Yunho is just so excited to be around you, and you're treating him like dirt. You sighed softly and wrapped your arms around his neck. His eyebrows shot up in surprise as he wasn't used to you initiating skinship. You leaned to peck his mouth quickly. Before he was able to wrap his arms around your waist, you promptly tore away from him and got into the passenger's seat. Once he got into the car, you noticed that his smile was back.
You got to the mini-golf place, and as soon as you got in line, you heard your names called by a deep voice.
"Y/N! Yunho!" Mingi shouted. You turned around and found Mingi running to meet you. Alone. You stood on your tiptoes to try and see if you can see his date behind him. But there was no one to be seen.
"Hi, Mingi. Where's your date?" you asked.
"Yeah, where's Haneul, Mingi?" Yunho said as he bro-hugged Mingi. You froze when you heard that name.
"Haneul? Isn't that San's sister?" you asked, confused. Mingi's lips drawn into a thin line, but he nodded solemnly.
"The same one," he responded. You didn't know how to react. You haven't heard of that name in ages, and it was reasonably uncommon, so you knew it had to be San's sister.
"Why would you date one of your friends' sister? Is San okay with this?" you asked. Yunho was looking at you curiously, and Mingi couldn't even look you in the eye.
"Hey, can I talk to you for a moment?" Yunho asked you. You nodded your head, and you both excused yourself-- leaving Mingi waiting in line by himself.
"Hey, are you okay?" Yunho asked, concerned.
"Yes, I'm fine. Why?" you replied.
"It's just that-- it seems like you are not comfortable with Mingi dating Haneul. I've known her for awhile. She's lovely, don't worry about her," Yunho reassured you. Jealousy shot through your body, realizing that Yunho liked her too.
"So, why aren't you dating her, Yunho?" you asked. He took a step back, surprised at your reaction. He brought you into a hug and whispered into your ear.
"Y/N, are you jealous?" Yunho asked.
"No, what? Yunho. Let's just go back to Mingi and Haneul," you said. You tried your best to get away from him, but he had an iron grip on you.
"I'm glad you're jealous. That means you care about me, Y/N," Yunho said. You rolled your eyes. He kissed your forehead before releasing you and held your hand on your way back to the others.
As soon as you saw Mingi, though, you quickly let go of Yunho's hand. A beautiful girl stood next to him, and she was talking to Mingi. You hoped that the date would run smoothly as you interrupted their conversation.
"Hi, Haneul. I'm Y/N."
