Chapter Thirty Six

"Well.. just let me know when you want me to come get you, okay?"
Mingi said while you opened up the car door.

"I will"
Your replied without care.

"Can I have a kiss before you go?"

You leaned closer to him and did as he asked of you.

Your stomach felt like it was in knots as you approached Chris and Emily's doorstep.

You knocked once before you heard footsteps rushing around.

"Y/n? Hey"
Emily said when she saw you.

"Hi.. how are you?"

"Good. Long time no see"
She said, crossing her arms.

"I know.. can I come in though"

She stepped back, making way for you to walk inside.

You heard the door close behind you.

"I just made some coffee if you want some"

"This late in the afternoon?"
You asked, laughing.

"Yes why not?"
She laughed as well.

So far so good.
She didn't seem too angry with you.
After all, you had been avoiding her for weeks now.

You would always come up with some reason as to why you couldn't hang out with her when she asked.
You assumed she would have been more upset.

"What's up y/n?"
You heard Chris say as he pulled you into a hug.

"Not much"
You said back.

He released you and gave Emily a kiss.
"I need to go help Ryan fix his car, but I'll be back later"

He then exited the house, leaving you and Emily alone.

"So do you want some coffee?"
She asked you again.

"Sure"

You followed her into the dining room.

"I'm surprised that you came over"
She said, pouring you a glass.

"I know.. I've just been going through some stuff lately"

She set the coffee mug down in front of you.
"We're supposed to be friends.. you could have told me, but you just cut me off"

"I didn't cut you off"

"You did though"
She laughed.

You stayed silent.

"So what was it?"

You felt enough courage to just come out and say it to her.

You didn't want to drag out the secret you've been hiding.
