1. Don't make these mistakes.
a. Don't fall behind; the more time that goes by, the harder it'll be to catch up.
b. Don't leave things for later; do them as soon as possible.
c. Don't put too much preassure on yourself; a B just means that you could try harder.
d. Don't try to do too many things at once; it'll tire you and make you lose motivation.
e. Don't hold back when asking for help; it's okay to not understand something.
2. Things you should do.
a. Get a headstart on assignments and homework; the sooner you finish, the more time you'll have to yourself.
b. Take notes of what you learned in class; you can use them to study.
c. Make repetition your friend; read your notes over and over again until you've completely learned everything.
d. Study three to six hours a day; read notes, write about what you've learned, find information online, and make sure you know everything.
e. Make goals for yourself; try to top your grades from last year and try your best to get better every time.
3. Studying effectively.
a. Read the notes that you took as many times as you need to; if you read it enough times, you'll be able to memorize it in no time.
b. Write short details on sticky notes and read them continuously; even the smallest things may be important.
c. Don't leave anything to chance; you can never predict what's going to be in the exam, so make sure you memorize everything and be prepared for anything.
4. Stay focused and motivated.
a. Have a designated workplace with no distractions; make sure your phone or any possible distractions are far away from you when you study.
b. I usually study for aproximately fifty minutes and take a ten minute break; during my break, I avoid doing things that might take longer than ten minutes because I might get distracted and extend my break time.
c. As I stated in point b, you should avoid increasing your break time because procastinating is keeping you from staying focused.
d. Listen to music while studying; I ususally like to listen to lofi, relaxing music or even an ASMR video. Make sure that you're not getting distracted by the music!
5. Use productivity apps.
a. I like to use apps like Forest to keep me from using my phone when I should be studying. Not only does it help you stay focused, it also helps you break phone addiction, which is something that distracts 90% of students.
b. Turn off your wifi while you're studying, it'll help prevent you from checking your phone when you should be studying.
c. Set a timer for a certain amount of time that you want to study. Keep in mind that if the time runs out but you feel that you don't want to take a break just yet, keep studying.
6. Make studying fun.
a. Setting an atmosphere; as I stated in point d of part four, listen to music that you enjoy. Try not to listen to songs with lyrics because you'll get distracted if you can understand the words or if the music is too loud.
b. Get school supplies that you like; when you have to study, you'll be excited to use them and it'll make studying more fun.
c. Watch "Study With Me" videos before or after studying. I like to watch them because they motivate me.
d. Reward yourself when you accomplish one of your goals; if you finish your math homework, get some ice cream. When you finish studying, go shopping. Small rewards like that can make you enjoy studying more.
7. Don't get distracted.
a. Focus more on getting good grades than being popular and looking good; don't lose sight of what's really important.
b. Save social media for summer break; it distracts you from being a good student.
c. Stop procrastinating; don't wait for tomorrow when you can do it today. Delaying your responsibilities can turn into a really bad habit.
8. Stay organized.
a. Try your hardest, even when you don't have to; if you have all day, spend at least half of your time studying.
b. Set goals for yourself; setting academic goals is a great way to track your progress and grow during the school year.
c. Stay healthy; remember that your health (physical and mental) is very important. Avoid putting your health at risk and remember that it comes before your grades.
d. Clean out your study space; declutter items from the previous year and clear out your backpack.
e. Adapt a planning system that works for you; figure out a sustainable routine that is stuctured in order to minimize procrastination.
9. Spend your time smartly.
a. Don't waste time on unimportant things; spend most, if not, all of your time on being better at school.
b. Start a study group; start a group with some friends in your class to study for upcoming tests. If you prefer to do things alone, that's okay too. Go with what you're comfortable with.
c. Wake up early, stay up late; it's up to you when you should wake up and go to bed, but try to wake up before 7am and go to bed before 11pm.
