Warning: Mild situation related to assault. VERY BRIEF. But yea I wanted to give ya a heads up. And Mags has a panic attack.

Song recommendation: It's Strange by Louis the Child and K. Flay

Mags was fast asleep on Jays couch when a man with a ski mask picked the lock on the front door, creeping inside. He silently scanned the room, searching for anything valuable. When he noticed Mags, he started to get closer when the floorboards creaked under his weight.

Mags flinched, and sat up, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Jay?" she groggily whispered. When her eyes adjusted to the dark, she finally noticed the masked intruder standing in front of her.

He quickly grabbed her, covering her mouth with his hand and pressing his body weight on top of her.

Mags struggled, trying to kick him and scratch at him. Tears threatened to spill out, as she realized he was much too strong for her.

The man kept the mask on, but held up a knife to Mags' neck, making her freeze. "This will be a lot easier if you don't fight." he whispered.

Mags shook her head, and tried again to get out of his grip. She felt a sharp pain in her shoulder as the knife sliced her skin, warm blood seeping through her shirt.

As Mags was on the verge of a panic attack, the man suddenly yelped as he was roughly thrown off of her. Mags immediately stood up, holding her shoulder.

Jay stood in front of her, in a fighting stance.

"Fuck..." the intruder began to dart out of the apartment, but Jay grabbed his arm in one swift move, and body slammed him on the ground, grabbing the knife and throwing it across the floor. The man grunted, and tried to get away from Jay.

"Who are you?" Jay said, his voice low. He glared at the man under him.

"Fuck you!"

"That's not the right answer." Jay pulled the man's arms behind him, placing his knee on his back and pushing him harder on the ground. The man screamed. "Let's try that again." his tone was terrifying, and Mags flinched as she huddled by the couch.

"Jesus fine! My name is Alex! Happy now?"

Jay got this weird smirk on his face. "Not really." Then he pulled Alex's arms further behind him, and a loud "crack" echoed through the room.

He screamed again.

Mags covered her ears, and knelt down by the couch, trying to make herself as small as possible. Her heart hammered in her chest, and she struggled to fill her lungs with air.

Jay seemed to notice, and he snapped his head towards her.

Noticing that Jay got distracted, Alex roughly pushed Jay off of him, kicking him in the gut. Jay crashed into the coffee table, and Alex ran out the door.

Jay cursed, and cracked his shoulder. Then he quickly got to Mags, and knelt down in front of her. "Magnolia? Hey are you okay?" he gently gripped her arms, pulling her hands away from her face.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, her face white. She gasped for air and her legs were shaking. "I'm fine." she croaked.

Jay calmly and slowly took her in his arms, and pulled her into his lap. "It's okay now, he's gone." he whispered.

Mags gripped his shirt, trying to take deep breaths.

"You're safe now." Jay clenched his jaw when he noticed the gash on her arm. He held the small girl close to him, and patiently waited for her to calm down.
