Barchie in Bullet Points

- Veronica and Archie break up because they've drifted apart (obviously)
-Archie realizes they drifted apart when Veronica starts talking about her sister Hermosa, and he's like "you had a sister?? Since when?"
-it's awkward but amicable
-they do have breakup sex

-Jughead and Betty are a whole other story
-she gets annoyed by how in his own head and self centered he can be
-he starts to realize that Betty's not actually that committed to the Serpents, and really only joined because they were dating
-they fight all the time, but stick it out for another three month before a loud and messy breakup in Betty's room (which they share)
-it was super awkward when Jughead had to move out of her room with FP and Alice listening from downstairs
-Jughead starts staying at the old trailer for a while, just until the dust settles

-When Jughead is back around the house, Betty tried to make herself scarce
-she ends up hanging out with Archie a ton
-they both realize it's been a long time since they've hung out one on one, especially since that's basically all they did before sophomore year
-Betty helps out at the gym, and even tries to learn how to fight (she's got a pretty good jab!)
-Jughead can't help but feel the bitterest bit of vindication when he sees how close Betty and Archie are getting
- (because a tiny little part of him always worried about that, even when they both assured him nothing was between them)

-Veronica and Reggie restart their torrid romance
-it's pretty intense
-Reggie gets a tattoo with Veronica's name on his pecs (without telling her beforehand)
-Betty and Veronica laugh so hard they cry
-Betty is happy for Veronica, but feels a little alone without a boyfriend
-she doesn't actually miss Jughead as much as she thought she would

-she finds herself staring at Archie a lot
-she feels most comfortable with him
-his lips always look so soft, the way he laughs is so captivating
-she feels like she's fifteen again, watching him strum on his guitar, wishing desperately he was singing about her
-she pushes the feelings down (again) and continues being his friend
-she can't ruin things again

-Archie is happy to be close with Betty again
-she was always his closest confidante, and when she was with Jughead it felt like he lost that a little bit
-He comes alive when he's around her
-she inspires him to play guitar again
-first just some strumming here and there, but soon he's writing full songs and singing!
-he hadn't sung since sophomore year
-the song he writes are about love (obviously)
-first about some girl, any girl, nobody in particular
-soon he realizes that the girl he's picturing as he sings is Betty
-he becomes more aware of her, he craves to be around her
-she lights up his senses, and gets him on a level that nobody else seems to
-he finds himself staring at her window late at night
-he rereads their old text messages, smiling to himself

-one day they take the long way home, walking along Sweetwater River, talking about life
-Betty asks Archie about his breakup, even though she got the whole story from Veronica
-Archie then asks her about hers
-she goes into detail, way more than she told anyone else
-after she's done, Betty is struck bu how much she wants to kiss Archie

-they remember that when they were younger, they carved their names into a tree somewhere around there
-they search for it, laughing and shouting
-Archie finds it
-Betty cringes, remembering that she had carved a heart around their names
-she looks away bashfully
-Archie thinks it's cute
- he says he had a crush on her back then
-Betty laughs it off, saying he had a crush on every girl back then
-Archie says he only had eyes for her
-Betty says that he should have told her anytime before sophomore year and she would've jumped at him
-Archie asks "how bout now?"
-Betty doesn't know what to say
-"Arch."

-Archie turns away from her
-she runs after him
-he turns around and is met with her lips pressed against his
-they don't leave the forest for a while :)

-idek what this is but I have not written Barchie in forever and I wanted to get something down
-Riverdale has been genuinely so bad lately and betty and Archie have a 0 percent chance of being endgame soooo
-any ideas/recommendations?
