This picture has no relation to the chapter, Just wanted to draw angry boi Shadowscale...

When Shadowscale saw the colors of his mother's scales... he knew he f***ed up. Though, to be fair, it was the same way when he vanished his second hatching day, for the first he was too young to be in his own room. However, this time was different. He came back after dark, unlike last year when he came back just before Suntime began. And instead of just green with worry (like the last time), Queen Glory had speckles of dark red, pale green, and orange as she paced back and forth. Deathbringer sitting beside her, looking equally worried as thoughts of worse scenarios entered his mind. Firefly was nowhere in sight, perhaps sleeping in her room.

WHY IS HE GONE SO LONG!? Her mind roared. WHERE IS HE!?

Shadowscale's own scales went pale green as he entered her line of sight, hunched low as he proceeded with caution towards his worried mother.

He stepped on a branch that snapped, causing both parent's attentions to snap in his direction.

There was a long pause as the parents stared at the child, and he back to them. The tension becoming so thick, Deathbringer debated taking out one of his assassin discs and seeing if it could actually cut it.

Then finally, aqua started to pool over her pale green as well and green, indicating that she was relieved, yet the dark red and orange remained.

He lightly perked up, hoping that that was a good sign, as small bits of sea green started to envelope his stars. Then, the dark red started to consume every scale on her body until she looked as if her name should have been Scarlet of the SkyWings.

"Where. Have. You. BEEN!?" The Queen roared causing his scales to revert back to a terrified pale green. "DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED YOUR FATHER AND I HAVE BEEN!? HOW WORRIED FIREFLY WAS BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHERE HER BIG BROTHER WAS!? SHE WAS BLAMING HERSELF FOR YOUR DISAPPEARANCE AND IS CRYING HER EYES OUT IN HER ROOM!!!"

He lightly opened his mind then realized it was a big mistake. He immediately tried to shut it again when Glory's furious, paranoid, and worried mind screamed with every fiber of it's being. However, he couldn't, so instead, he tried to seek out a calmer mind to focus on.

Deathbringer's was no better, though he remained silent, his mind too was screaming about all the possible ways he could have died. Though, death by dragon-eating sloths seemed very unlikely to Shadowscale, he didn't feel like pointing that out though for a number of reasons.

He then seeked out the mind of his sister, and it broke his heart.

Why Shadow... why... I should have stopped you! Where are you big brother!?

The sorrow that engulfed her was too much. He didn't wait till Glory was done scolding him. He bolted towards her room.

"AND WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING MISTER!?" She called after him as she stormed down after him, Deathbringer not far behind. He slammed open her door causing her to jump with a yelp and turn towards him. He didn't wait for a reaction, he lunged towards her and embraced her in a tight hug. Tears welling in his eyes as he buried his head into her small shoulder.

"I-I'm s-s-s-so s-s-s-sorry Fire!" He sobbed out. "I... I didn't m-mean t-t-t-to worry y-you!"

Silence. Dead silence. The only sound coming from both dragonets' silent sobs as they clutched each other as if they where the only thing keeping the other afloat in their sea of tears. The parent's just watched, Queen Glory's anger immediately dissipating as indigo and rose pink marched through her scales and her enraged scowl morphed into a smug smirk.
