Chapter 46

Jace (POV)

I've made a call to spike to let him know what's going on. Immediately he was on a plane here with Axel. Connor and Lucas also agreed to help. I used to be the leader of a gang called the kings of the south, but I left when I met Lucy, hence why it took me so long to get to her that night.

At first they refused to let me leave as death was usually the only way out, but I did have a successor. Lucas. He convinced them that he would be able to carry on with the gang even if I'm still alive.

Lucas rounded up the gang and had them all out searching for her. My parents payed a private investigator to look for my mother.

If we don't find her I will never forgive myself. I can't lose her. I won't.

Rose (POV)

It's been a few days now and the slash in my shoulder still stings, but its actually healing quite fast. And I've got a plan. When I go to give Lucy her food I'll slip in the master key to their cells and a note with instructions. Then I'll come back and open each door for her from the control room.

Jace's mom leaves for 2 days starting today. She said she had some other business to take care of. And she left an hour ago.

Just as I'm about to start writing the instructions West walks through my door. "What the hell west!" I shout at him "I could've been naked!" He doesn't say anything but lick his lips and hum. "I would've liked that." He responds. He starts advancing towards me "what are you doing?" I say in a shaky voice. 

His eyes darken and his advance doesn't stop.  Oh no. I hope he doesn't touch me, "What if she comes back?" I ask, hoping it'll buy me some time. He turns around to look out the door, giving me enough time to slip everything in  a drawer I had open. I let out a shaky breath as he swivels back around to face me. "I don't think she'd mind" he replied early, making my skin crawl. 

"I don't want this," I tell him boldly "Please, just leave me alone."  my eyes dart around the room, searching for something that can help me. I know he's not going to stop. "I just need you under me for a while rose." I cringe at his words, but I play along momentarily. 

"How about we continue this on my bed then?" humming he guided me to my bed, pushing me roughly, making me fall back on my small mattress. Almost immediately, he attacked my neck.  As he continued bruising my neck, flashes of my past entered my mind, until I couldn't take it anymore. "Please stop, West, this was a mistake." Completely ignoring me, he chuckled and and mumbled next to my ear. "You like that don't you." I couldn't find my voice, but shaking my head no. Mentally pleading him to stop. My body froze, going into shock. This can't happen to me again. I refuse to let it happen. With tears now streaming down my face, I forced my arm to reached for the small lamp situated on the tiny nightstand. slamming it into his head, he fell into a heap next me.  

Dropping the lamp in shock, I wrapped my arms around myself, whilst letting out a shaky breath. 

Shaking away the currents events a checked the clock, 4:00, she should be gone by now. "Looks like my plan will have to change" Grabbing the key I dash out of my room and into the control room, opening all the doors, since she's hurt I won't be able to comeback here and open them. I then make my way to the cells.

"Lucy?" I say while turning on the lights. Looking up at me, she scoots closer to her sister, protectively. Her blood is all around her now and she looks like she's going to pass out.  I must say, I do admire her. She's so strong, even when she extremely hurt her first thought is to protect her sister. Frowning, I walk closer to her cell "Lucy, please forgive me, I'm here to help you." Her face twists with confusion and pain, "Why?" she asks defensively. I don't blame her, I wouldn't trust me either if I was in her situation. "Because I can't let you die. I love him, but he loves you, and I will not her him like that. I'm so sorry that I was apart of this. You weren't suppose to get stabbed or shot. They didn't tell me their full plans and I fell for it."

Letting out a shaking breath she tries to sit put more, one arm covering her wound. "I'm going to die of blood loss soon, so leave me, just take my sister please. Make sure she's safe." Shaking my head I begin to unlock her cell "No, you are my priority right now. I won't leave you." She may be trying to hide it but I can see that she's scared, terrified. She's dying. "I swear Rose I will never forgive you if u come into this cell. " Her voice is shaking and she's almost out of breath. I can't leave her "I'm willing for that to happen then."  Closing her eyes for a second, she takes in a deep breath before opening them again. Her eyes. They were hard, and sharp "GET MY SISTER, AND GO." The command, however weak she was, was strong. As if compelled I moved to her sisters cell, looping her arm around my neck and hoisting her up. "Lucy, I don't want to leave you." Smiling at me, she says "You wouldn't be able to carry me. And you're trying to escape too. So it's ok. And I forgive you. But please just do me a favor," Looking at her, I can tell she using every bit of her last energy to tell me this, nodding my head yes, I urge her to continue" Take care of him for me, please. Watch after him, and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid when I'm gone." Now tears flowed freely down my face.  

"I promise. For you, I promise Lucy."

She visibly let out a breath.  "Good. Now go and don't get caught"  nodding I make my way through the doors I opened, we make it outside.  

"Hailee, you gotta stay strong. C'mon lets get you somewhere safe" I start to make my way in the direction a hospital.

Jace (POV)

One of the guys informed me of a possible location that she could be at, and we're headed their right now. A few guys from the gang are trailing behind, they're our back up if we need. Spike insisted on driving as I would, and I quote 'Kill us all'.  I will never know how they  flew in so quickly, but I'm not complaining. Axel had jumped in the front seat almost immediately, so here I am sitting in the back seat of my own car, going out of my mind. "Can't you go any faster? She needs me" I growl, if I drove we would be there already, what if she's hurt?  "I'm going as fast as I can dude. Im already going 120 on a road where the speed limit is 60, besides, we are almost there" 

Grumbling, elbows on my knees,  I bury my face in my hands. Im so worried and I can't help the what if's that are going through my mind, and honestly, they terrify me. I don't look up until a soft hand is placed on my head. looking up, Axel, doesn't say anything but his gaze is quite comforting, nodding at him he retracts his hand and turns to face the front again.  He's strange but I can tell why Spike likes him so much. "We're here" 

Thats all I need to jump out the car and sprint to the building. Weirdly enough, the door is open, making my way inside, everyone else, a few feet behind me. I told the group to divide, and search the whole building.  

Just as I'm about to enter a room, I get a call from Lucus "We found her, but its not good, you need to get here right now."  I followed his directions to where they were. The sight made me pause for a moment. Blood. So much blood. The metallic smell had filled the hole room. She laid there, in a pool of her own blood, she looked lifeless. Without another thought I launched myself towards her.  Her cell door had been opened, but she was left there. "I faintly heard someone calling an ambulance, but I just knelt next to her, not caring about my clothes, holding her. "Luce, Lucy! Can you hear me? Wake up baby, please." I didn't know I was crying until I saw it drip on her nose. 

Bending down to hear her heartbeat I was relieved to know she was alive, it was faint, and slowing, but still there. I rushed out of the building, with her in my arms and carried he to the waiting ambulance, climbing in with her and the rest of the paramedics. She's going to be ok. She has to be.
