I woke up to the sound of the heart monitor beeping and bright lights blaring at me. What happened? Why are the lights so bright? Oh my gosh. Am I in the hospital. Crap. The car. Marco. Jeremy. I started panicking and the heart monitor starting beeping like crazy, thus waking up mom and Mason. I could feel my heart beat quicken and my throat dry up.

"Honey please breathe!" mom said worriedly. " you're okay. But you need to breathe. You have a mild concussion so we you really need to calm down. I'm sure you have a lot of questions but I really need your heart rate to slow down."

I breathed in and out until I heard the heart monitor slow down. I looked around the room and it was then I noticed that my leg was wrapped in a cast. Damnit. There goes soccer for a while at least. I sighed to myself before looking up at my room. I was in a light blue room that didn't have much of a character. There was a big window on the right with a curtain covering the window for privacy. On the sofa in the room, there was a dark blue duffle bag of what I am assuming was my parents' and Mason's overnight bag.

My mother pressed the red button beside me to signal the doctor in. She stood up and left the room telling my brother to stay with me while she and dad switch places as he would want to know that I had woken up.

A few seconds after she left, a middle aged-man in a lab coat entered my room with a clipboard in his hand. He approached me and scanned my face before procedding with an introduction.

"My name is Dr.Green and I have been taking care of you and your brother, Jeremy." Dr.Green drawled out. "As soon as your father comes in I will have to talk to him about your current state. Now, as we have a bit of time, I need to ask you a few questions and I'm sure that you have questions of your own." I nodded silently. "Ok, good. Firstly what is your full name?"

"Olivia Jodie Benson, where's Jer and Marco?"

"I'll answer your questions once we are done with my questions. How old are you?"

"17" I grumbled out

"who is the president?"

"Connor Grant Smith"

"Do you recognize the little boy in the room?"

"Yeah, he's my brother. Mason"

"Okay then. You're all set and to answer your questions. Marco is the boy you were in the car crash with I am assuming, he is already dismissed since there was no need for us to keep him in the hospital. But with Jeremy, your brother, he is still unconscious but he is in the intensive care unit so you can visit him once things are settled. We're still keeping watch since he hasn't woken up yet."

"What do you mean he hasn't woken up? He should be awake by now. I mean even I'm awake."

"Well he sustained more injuries that you and suffered from a few internal organ damage."

"If that's true then why am I relatively fine?"

"That's what I'm wondering as well. A crash like that should've caused more injuries on to you. But somehow you came out with no life-threatening injuries. Now then. If that is all I have to check on my other patients"

The door closed as the doctor left the room. He left me confused as to how I managed to escape a big crash like that without being too hurt. That's when it hit me. Jeremy had protected me from the crash. He had pressed me back onto the car seat when the crash happened. His arm acted as another seatbelt keeping me on my seat. But I was still confused as to what happened to Jeremy and Marco. I was happy that Marco was discharged from the hospital. But how did Jeremy manage to have so many injuries. I was going to have to ask my parents.

As if on queue, my dad quickly entered the room and came over to give me a big bear hug. He kissed my temple and thanked the Lord that I was alive before explaining to me Jer's condition and what had happened in the car.

"The paramedics got there a few minutes after the car had crashed and by the time they had got there, Jeremy was knocked out and there was a moment where his heart stopped beating." My dad struggled to say, " and when they got his heart to start beating again, they lifted him unto a stretcher and brought you guys here with him. He is stable right now but the doctors say it is up to him if he should wake up or not. Things like this is unpredictable. I'm sorry baby" as he pulled me into another hug

My heart dropped. The dread settled into my chest and I felt like puking. I couldn't lose Jer. He was – is there for every step of my life. Every big event, sad and happy. God damnit. I felt as though my stomach is trying to crawl out of my body. I started hyperventilating and my body started shaking from the thought that I could lose him at any moment.

The nurse rushed in, thinking that something was wrong. She was wearing blue scrubs and her name was Glenda. As soon as she realized I was having a panic attack her body immediately relaxed and changed into a calm demeanor, she came over and calmed me down. She told me to breathe and go to my happy place. She gave me some water to drink because she said, " no one can cry and drink at the same time." After a few minutes, I started to calm down and I thanked the nurse and she left me with my dad who just stood there frozen as I was having the panic attack.

The doctor came back in and told me I could see Jer once I get enough rest and that if I have another panic attack, I was to see a psychiatrist. He mentioned that Jeremy still hasn't woken up but that it was normal as we had only beenin the hospital for about 16 hours. Mason told me that Marco was fine and only had really small injuries and that Mason had slept over in Liam's house the night before. I pushed my dad to drag Mason back to school tomorrow as they all needed to go on with their lives and that I was here to look after Jeremy if anything happened. Mom was a housewife so she will alternate with me and Jer while dad and Mason will go back to work and school for the day after.

For the rest of the first day in the hospital, mom and dad mostly left me to my thoughts while Mason tried to distract me with his wide array of toys that he brought to the hospital. Most times I would play with him but there were times the thought of losing Jer filled my mind and distracted me. my parents were trying to reassure me Jer would be fine but it sounded more like they were telling that to themselves.

I reached out and grabbed my phone and noticed 12 missed calls and 27 text messages from Jordie and 10 missed calls and 15 texts from Sam. I chuckled, glad to see some people care about me. I asked mom whether they all knew about the accident and she mentioned that Jordie had stopped by with the team a few hours ago but they left because visiting hours were over and Jer and I were knocked out anyway.

I called Jordie and said, "hey Boo, guess who's alive"

"OLIVIA JODIE BENSON. DO NOT SCARE ME LIKE THAT. DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED I WAS. After you didn't pick up my many, many calls, I called your mom to find out that YOU were in a frikkin car accident. You know what. I'm coming over and I'm dragging the boys with me"

"yeah just come" I chuckled, " but visiting hours end in three hours so you better hurry."

"Crap, okay I'm coming"

After she hung up the phone, the nurse came in and brought a tray of dull food. It looked unappetizing with some chocolate pudding and some kind of healthy pasta. The pudding wasn't so bad but the pasta was tasteless. I was going to have to ask my dad to bring me food from the hospital canteen.

After the food was taken away, I heard the noise of a bunch of sneakers on the floor and I could see my team coming through the door.
